Adhesive compositions

A composition useful for subterranean water or gas shut off applications includes organosilane-modified colloidal silica and an accelerator. The accelerator includes one or more organic or inorganic salts. A method of using a composition, including an organosilane-modified colloidal silica and an accelerator, includes forming a fluid system that is flowed to a formation in a subterranean zone, such as through a wellbore, where the composition forms a gel to plug the formation and shut off water flow into the wellbore.

Composition and method for water and gas shut-off in subterranean formations

The invention relates to a method of providing an aqueous paint dispersion comprising silanized colloidal silica particles and an acrylate-based binder wherein the weight ratio of SiOto acrylate-based binder on a dry basis ranges from 0.02 to 0.2, and wherein the content of SiO, measured by XRF, in said dispersion ranges from 1.05 to 7.5 wt %, wherein silane groups present in the silanized colloidal silica particles are derived from silanes containing an epoxy group, glycidoxy group, glycidoxypropyl group, ureido-based silanes, methacrylamido silanes, mercapto silanes, and combinations thereof. Paint dispersion

The present invention relates to a method of producing a dispersion comprising a) mixing an aqueous dispersion of silanized colloidal silica particles with at least one organic compound containing at least two hydroxyl groups to provide an aqueous dispersion of silanized colloidal silica particles and said at least one organic compound, wherein the mixing is performed in the substantial absence of any monofunctional alcohol b) withdrawing water from the formed aqueous dispersion until the remainder of water in the dispersion is below about 10 wt %. The invention also relates to a dispersion obtainable therefrom and the use of the dispersion.

Aqueous silica dispersion

The invention relates to a method of producing a substantially aqueous pigment dispersion substantially free from an organic binder comprising mixing at least one water-soluble or water-dispersible silane compound and colloidal silica particles to form silanized colloidal silica particles in an aqueous dispersion whereby said at least one silane compound is mixed with colloidal silica particles in a weight ratio of silane to silica of from about 0.2 to about 1.5, mixing said silanized colloidal silica particles with an organic and/or inorganic pigment, wherein the weight ratio of silica to pigment is from about 0.001 to about 0.8 to form said substantially aqueous pigment dispersion. The invention also relates to an aqueous pigment dispersion obtained from the method defined herein.

Pigment dispersion

The present invention relates to a coating composition comprising: a) silanized colloidal silica particles; b) alkyd-containing binder; c) a carrier fluid, wherein the coating composition is essentially free from a cobalt-based drier. The present invention also relates to a method of producing a coating composition and the use of such coating composition for coating of a substrate.

Detergent composition

The present invention relates to a method of preparing a composition comprising mixing a silica sol having an S-value from about 5 to about 50% and a mineral acid. The invention also relates to a composition obtainable by the method and a composition comprising a network of silica particles and mineral acid, wherein the silica particles have a particle size of from about 2 to about 7 nm.
