An automobile glass pane is provided with a frame molding of a polymer. The molding has a portion with a U-like cross section. In this portion, an adhesive bead is introduced, the bead serves for bonding the glass pane to the attachment flange of the window opening in the vehicle bodywork. The lateral limbs of the U-like portion of the molding are internally provided with anchoring projections for mechanically holding the adhesive bead in place between the limbs without any separate adhesive or bonding.

Automobile glass pane adapted for bonding to a window frame and a method

An electric motor driven vehicle window assembly wherein an electric motor is mounted in an aperture formed in a portion of a transparent window pane. The electric motor operates in conjunction with a simple transmission element such as a threaded rod or a toothed rack and when energized, causes the window to be raised or lowered. The invention provides a motor driven window which is more compact than conventional motor driven vehicle windows.

A vehicle window with a glass plate (1) bonded to the mounting flange (8) of the window frame is characterized in that to the glass plate (1) is connected a frame-like profile strand (4) made from a polymer, which cooperates with the edge (7) of the mounting flange (8). The part of the frame-like profile strand (4) cooperating with the edge (7) of the mounting flange (8) is arranged on the surface of the glass plate (i) directed towards the outside of the vehicle and the glass plate (1) is bonded to the mounting flange (8) on its side directed towards the interior of the vehicle.

A motor vehicle pane made from thin insulating glass comprises two thin individual glass panes, which are connected to one another by a spacer frame made from a plastic strand containing a moisture-absorbing means. Along the lower edge area which remains in the door bay, the moisture absorption surface of the plastic strand is enlarged by another plastic strand, which is thinner than the air space between the two panes. Alternatively, the plastic strand can be shaped in a meandering path so as to increase the surface area facing the air space.

A motor vehicle glazing prepared for bonding with the window frame of a motor vehicle body is provided with a profile bead and a single tear-away cord. The profile bead serves as an intermediate body between the glazing surface and an assembly adhesive. In the area coming in contact with the assembly adhesive the width of the profile bead is selected to inhibit the lateral overflow of the assembly adhesive over the profile bead during installation. A tear-away cord is placed inside the profile bead or in its immediate vicinity to shear through the profile bead when removing glazing. The profile bead itself or the adhesive bonding of the profile bead to the glazing surface is shaped so that the width of the section of profile bead to be sheared through by the tear-away cord is substantially smaller than the width of the area coming in contact with the assembly adhesive.

Attached onto a windshield of laminated safety glass for an automobile in the upper region of its face inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle is a shaped panel extending preferably over its entire width, which serves as a support and/or casing for various functional elements such as sun visors, a rear view mirror, speakers and/or automobile clock. A safety window comprises at least one sheet of glass, which may be tempered, and, on the side thereof facing a interior of the vehicle in which the window is to be mounted, a sheet of transparent plastic material bonded adhesively thereto, the plastic material possessing a high capacity of elastic deformation, a modulus of elasticity below 2,000 daN/cm.sup.2 and an elongation to rupture in excess of 60% with less than 2% plastic deformation, the plastic material having self-healing properties and capable of protecting occupants of the vehicle from being cut if said sheet of glass is broken.
