The invention relates to a process of heat transformation to convert the low-temperature waste heat from cooling circuits of block-type thermal power station (BTPS) reciprocating-piston combustion engines into steam or other heating media of a temperature required for operation by adopting the principle of the high-temperature heat pump according to which the low-temperature heat produced by recooling the engine cooling circuits to their required inflow temperature required by construction is transferred to a liquid working medium, is absorbed by the working media vapors by partial evaporation, and is brought, by compressing and condensing the working medium vapors, to the temperature of the in-plant heating media and is transferred to them. It is an object of the invention to provide a heat transformation process and devices for realizing the process according to the principle of the high-temperature heat pump using mechanical vapor compression by means of which the waste heat not only of the hot exhaust gas, but also the one of a proproportion as large as possible of the low-temperature waste heat from the cooling circuits for the cylinders, the lubricating oil, and the charging air/fuel mix may be used up to a lower temperature limit to be fixed for each project by conversion into the in-plant common heating medium in a technically reliable manner and at an economical relationship between the investment and operating expenditures to the output from the recuperated energy in reciprocating-piston engine BTPS for the heat supply to commercial and industrial enterprises. This is attained by the fact that inventive connections and devices prevent a drop below the ambient pressure in the critical low-temperature range and in all of the operating conditions of the heat transformer and the energy required for vapour compression is reduced to a minimum and, using steam expansion or hot-air prime movers, is gained completely or in part from the exhaust gas content of the BTPS engine (FIG. ).

A method and apparatus for the realization of a leakage-free switching double seat valve allowing cleaning of seats. Said method ensures that in double seat valves comprising closing elements of which one is structurally designed as set disk and the other slide-like, there can be realized a leakage-free switching and the possibility of simultaneous cleaning of the seat surfaces of both closing elements and/or the cleaning of the seat surface of only the slide-like closing element possibly subjected to product action. Method and apparatus for the realization of a leakage-free switching

A method and apparatus for simultaneously cleaning both seat surfaces of a double seat valve particularly adapted for use in the food processing industry is disclosed. The valve includes a pair of closing elements movable relative to the valve seats and to each other to define valve open and valve closed positions and a controllable stop and controllable connector which provide a partially lifted cleaning position in which both seat surfaces are simultaneously exposed to a cleaning agent while at least one of the closing elements continues to be in contact with product. The position of the closing elements relative to each other and relative to the valve casing is interlocked by the stop and the connector so that no cleaning agent enters the product side of the valve.

The invention relates to a cleanable sampling valve to be incorporated into the product line supplying the samples. With such a valve, it is ensured that repeated sampling during one long-time product charge passage will take place under optimum sterile conditions and any entrainment of product into the sealing area and the consequent risk of reinfection emanating from that area will be precluded. In addition, it is ensured that no intermixing of the product or the product sample with the cleaning or disinfecting agent will be possible. The sampling valve includes, inter alia, a closing member (5) having the form of a hollow cylinder and prestressed against a housing seat surface (3a), the cylinder bore (15) of said closing member (5) being open to a spring housing and stuffing box shell (4) in the closed position of the sampling valve and being closed in the open position through a controlling clearance (22) by means of a lower valve stem seal (23) while controllable reflief bores (18a) connect the interior of the spring housing and stuffing box shell (4) to the atmosphere (FIG. 2).

A pipe or armature connection includes two interfitting connecting members. The connecting members include surfaces providing axial and radial guidance upon their assembly but require only a small space for assembly and disassembly. One of the connecting members includes a groove dimensioned to positively retain an O-ring sealing member placed therein so that it will not fall from the groove. The dimensions of the groove and the one connecting member are such that the bulging portion of the O-ring is protected from damage by the extended surface of the one connecting member. Upon assembly of the two connecting members, the O-ring is urged into the space between the two members, thereby precluding the collection of materials in the space and rendering the connection more easily cleaned. This system is particularly advantageous in pipe systems that carry food products and materials that must be hygienically cleaned after use.
