A wood preservative which is based on a dimethylalkylamine and an acid and contains dimethylalkylamine, a water-soluble acid and a water-insoluble acid and/or 2-(methoxycarbonylamino)-benzimidazole is used for preserving wood.

Wood preservatives

An agent for impregnating solid wood by the pressure process, based on a water-dilutable formulation of a copper salt, excess alkanolamine and, if required, a salt with a fungicidal anion, has a pH of not less than 8 in the concentration usually employed and corresponding to about 1-5% by weight of non-aqueous components in the aqueous solution.

The flame retardents comprise a phenol or melamine formaldehyde condensate, pentaerythritol as well as ammonium phosphate and preferably in addition dicyandiamide.

Wood preservatives containing 2-iodobenzanilide

A wood preservative based on a water-dilutable formulation of the compound di-(N-cyclohexyldiazoniumdioxy)-copper, a polyamine, a complex-forming carboxylic acid and, if required, a salt having a fungicidal anion has a pH in the aqueous solution of not less than 7.5 in the conventional concentration for use.

A wood preservative contains a water-soluble, alkaline copper(II) complex and a water-soluble thiocyanate or iodide and may contain a reducing agent.

Accelerated fixing of chromate-containing wood preservative salts, in which freshly impregnated timbers are subjected to fixing with superheated steam, is carried out by a process wherein the freshly impregnated timbers are subjected beforehand to a heat treatment in which both the wood surface and the internal walls of the heating chamber are heated to 60.degree.-100.degree. C., preferably 80.degree.-95.degree. C., and the timbers are then treated with superheated steam in a conventional manner.

Salts of 2-(methoxy-carbonylamino)-benzimidazole

A wood preservative which consists of an aqueous solution containing both an alkyd resin and a fungicidal or insecticidal active ingredient, namely 2,5-dimethylfuran-3-carboxylic acid N-methoxy-N-cyclohexylamide, tributyl-tin benzoate, tributyl-tin naphthenate, gamma-hexachlorocyclohexane, pentachlorophenol laurate, 2-methoxycarbonylamino-benzimidazole or a mixture of these active ingredients.

Aqueous wood preservative

A wood preservative based on an aqueous mixture of boric acid and a water-soluble organic amine, which mixture additionally contains sodium polyborate or a mixture of boric acid and borax.

Heat-foamable fireproofing compositions contain thermosetting phenolic resins, thermally decomposable organic nitrogen compounds, eg. dicyandiamide, an ammonium salt and a carbohydrate or polyhydric alcohol, and on decomposition form a stiff carbonaceous foam.
