Compression elements (4) are arranged above the heating plates (3) in position to act on the sheet of corrugated cardboard (2) as it advances along the path. An intake belt (e) is located in a starting area (a) of the heating plates (3) between at least a part of the sheet of corrugated cardboard (2) and at least one compression element (4.1, 4.2).

A cross cutter for web stock, in particular for a corrugated cardboard web, has tube-shaped cutter cylinders (4, 5) formed of a composite fiber material which are rotatably mounted in pairs above each other in a machine frame (2, 3). Cutter holders (15) for cutters (16) are fastened on the cutter cylinders, which are disposed along the circumference of each cutter cylinder extending diagonally. Counterweights (17) are located on the cutter cylinders opposite the cutter holders. The cutter cylinders mesh with each other via gear wheels (10), by which the cutter cylinders can be driven. The cutter cylinders (4, 5), the cutter holders (15) and the counterweights (17) are made of a composite fiber material with a heat expansion coefficient near or equal to 0 mm/K. The bearings (7) at both ends of the cutter cylinders are fixed bearings. Because of the reduced flexing of the cutter cylinders, the optimum quality of the cut and, because of the reduced mass inertia moment, a reduced energy absorption can be attained by this.

A device for the production of one-sided corrugated paperboard with two corrugated rollers which corrugate a paper sheet. A glue mechanism for applying glue onto the corrugated paper sheet has a glue applying roller cooperating with a corrugated roller, a glue dosing element and a glue container. A pressing roller presses a cover sheet against the coated, corrugated paper sheet. Chambers are constructed on both sides of the glue applying roller. The chambers are sealed off, with their first edges against the first corrugated roller or the pressing roller and, with their other edges, are sealed off against the glue mechanism. The chambers have connections for high pressure sources, in order to press, by means of high pressure the corrugated sheet against the corrugated roller. Both edges of the pressure chambers sealing off against the glue mechanism cooperate with surfaces of the glue mechanism which do not convey any glue to the corrugated roller.

One-sided corrugated board machine having at least two pairs of corrugated rollers, each pair forming an assembly including a lower corrugated roller and an upper corrugated roller. Each of the pairs of rollers is supported on a movable, lockable bearing bracket that is movably secured to walls or supports of the machine. A movable clamping roller and a movable glue-applying device is provided such that they can be moved away to allow the assembly to be moved from one position to another. When it is desired to exchange one assembly for another the clamping roller and the glue-applying device are moved out of the way. An apparatus for fixing the leading edge of a second rolled web to a point at or near the trailing edge of a first rolled web. The present invention is an improvement over the disclosure of U.S. Pat. No. 3,837,954, issued Sept. 24, 1974, wherein the leading edge of a second roll was adhered to a transfer roll while the trailing end of the first web was contacted by a suitable base roll. In this improvement, a fluid operated carriage forms a resiliently braked loop following the base roll and permits the web at the base roll to slow as needed to pick up the second web while not diminishing the speed of exiting of the web from the transfer apparatus. The carriage is moved in one direction to compensate for this change in relative speeds. The carriage is then caused to move in the opposite direction to generate a smoothly increasing force resisting such yielding then progressively increasing the pull on the web and its speed of withdrawal from the second roll. Thus, adherence between the webs is completed by the time tension is placed onto the point of adherence for the acceleration of the second roll.
