Anhydrous agents for topical application, comprising one or more C1-C4 alkyl esters of lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid or citric acid and physiologically acceptable excipients, are described for the treatment of nail disorders caused by mycoses and for nail care. The agents according to the invention are also suitable in veterinary medicine for treating fungal infections of the hooves, claws and talons of pets and farm animals and wild animals living in captivity.

Topical fungicidal agents for treating nail disorders

The present invention relates to water-free topical application products for the treatment of nail diseases and nail care containing one or more active substances, C -C -alkyl esters of lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid as carrier and optionally physiologically compatible adjuvants. The invention is also concerned with a process for the manufacture of these products and their use.

Topical nail care compositions

A process for reducing the body weight of overweight humans and domestic animals, such as dogs and cats, by administering creatine is provided. Creatine is administered at a daily dose of 0.15 mg-15 mg per kilogram of body weight by various methods, including oral administration, injection, infusion, and suppositories for rectal application. Also provided is the use of creatine for manufacturing a medicament containing creatine that can be administered by the process of the invention.

The process of the invention for the extraction of a Growth Factor Complex is characterized in that water is added to natural and growth factors containing material, the pH value is adjusted to 2.5 to 3.2 by the addition of acid, the resulting precipitate is separated from the supernatant, the Growth Factor Complex in the aqueous solution is precipitated by the addition of an organic solvent miscible with water, separated from the liquid phase and dried, and the powder obtained is, if desired, dialyzed.

The linear measuring device comprises a rail (1) with a fixed measuring jaw (4) and a slide (5) with a movable measuring jaw (6). A holding member (9) with a handle hole (10) is adjustably mounted on the rail (1). The slide (5) has a ring (20) arranged displaceably therein. This ring is connected with a clamping piece (30) via connecting elements (36, 39). This clamping piece, after attaining a predetermined measuring pressure, is brought into the clamped position on the rail (1) and thus permits the maintenance of a constant measuring pressure, the slide (5) being shiftable, with the clamping piece (30) being locked in place, under the action of the spring (32) with respect to the clamping piece (30) whereby the measuring object can be adjusted into the precise measuring position under spring force. The arrangement of handle hole (10) and ring (20) offers the advantage that maximally precise measurements can be quickly performed in correspondence with a scissor-like operation of the device.

The device for measuring distances consists of a column (1), a slide (14) with an adjusting member (5) and a measuring element (6) which are connected with each other by way of a spring (16), a control device (19) for obtaining a constant measuring force, and by way of a precision adjusting means (39) which can be activated and deactivated. The latter exhibits a slidingly supported plunger (40) through which extends a rod (41) connected to the measuring element (6); this rod can be locked or unlocked in the plunger (40) by a screw (48) serving as a resetting means. An eccentric (40) engages into a cutout (50) of the plunger (40) and permits precision adjustment of the measuring element (6) for tracing purposes upon locking of the rod (41). With the precision adjusting means (39) being deactivated, the device is usuable for customary vertical measuring with measuring pressure control.

The linear measuring device comprises two rails (2 and 3) arranged in parallel to each other and joined together, a measuring head (15) with measurement pickup, an adjusting element (14) connected with the measuring head (15) by way of a spring coupling, this adjusting element being fixedly attachable to the rail (2) by clamping, an adjustable counter stop element (11), and two supporting elements (12 and 13) displaceably arranged on the rail (3), these supporting elements being freely guidable past the elements mounted on the rail (3) over the entire length of the device. Thereby, the measuring device can be adapted to any posed measuring task in a simple way.

A measuring instrument having a column 2 mounted on a base and a sliding unit 3 adapted for vertical displacement on said column 2. The sliding unit 2 has a housing 9 and a plate 10. The housing 9 is suspended on the column 2 by means of a cable 7 which is provided with a balancing weight. The plate 10 carrying a gauging element 5 is operatively connected by a counterweight device 17 to the housing 9. The counterweight device 17 has a lever 16 which is mounted on the housing 9. Lever 16 has a weight mounted on one end thereof. The other end of the lever 16 accommodates ball bearings 21 which serve to support plate 10 through cams 22. The instrument has a latching device 23 for establishing a zero position between plate 10 and housing 9 and for enabling adjustment of a measuring force. A damping device 26 interposed between plate 10 and housing 9 enables to cushion jolts occurring on the gauging member 5.

Instrument for measuring vertical distances

A pump having a pump body (1), a push-rod (7), a diaphragm (8) with an aperture (17) and a plate valve (9). The push-rod (7) is driven by a motor (10) and is guided centrally in an elastic filter disk (13) mounted in a pump casing (3). A lower end of the push-rod (7) is provided with a dome (12) member by which the diaphragm (8) is pressed into a correspondingly shaped recess (15).

The measuring device comprises a body (1) whose end (1a) is secured to a rod (2) connected to a measuring instrument. A probe assembly (3,4,5) is provided with a feeler head (4a) and is secured to a lever (6) which rotates around a pin (8) in the body (1). The angular path of the lever (6) is limited by a stop (12) built into the body (1) and by a stop adjustable by means of an eccentric part (11a) in such a manner that the body (1) always takes the same position in each measuring direction on alternate measuring of two opposite surfaces lying in the same plane. A spring (9) urges the lever (6) towards its upper position. By this means, the measurement of the distance between opposite surfaces requires no calculation, i.e. addition or subtraction of measuring constants, thus making measurement easier and precluding errors in calculations.

U-shaped forms (1a) are cut in a band (1) consisting of electrically conductive material, which free cut the future measuring elements (1c) except for a connection at one side with band (1). The band (1) is placed on an insulating base (2) and connected with it. The band (1) is then cut along lines A and B, to provide individual electrically conductive elements (3a) arranged in succession and isolated from the teeth (3b) of the cut band (3). The thus produced scale can be reinforced by application of a carrier band (5).

Method of producing a scale

An internal measuring device with a measuring unit comprising a measuring bolt and a fixed measuring contact. In order to facilitate the centering of the device inside the bore for measurement to be made the fixed contact member is provided with at least one roller. This ensures that the device moves automatically into the central plane of the bore to be measured.
