A method for over-the-top, OTT, management in a communication network is presented. The method is performed in a packet data network gateway, PGW. The method comprises receiving (S) a request for an application network interaction protocol, ANIP, service from an application client, sending (S) the received request to a global ANIP server, wherein the request is extended with a public land mobile network, PLMN, identity, receiving (S) an address to a local ANIP server from the global ANIP server, and sending (S) the received address to the local ANIP server to the Send request for application client. Methods, a PGW, an application client, an ANIP server, computer programs, and a ANIP service computer program product for OTT management in a communication network are also presented.

Over-the-top management in a communication network

A method for over-the-top (OTT) management in a communication network is presented. The method is performed in an application client. The method comprises sending a request for activation of a policy for an application network interaction protocol (ANIP) service to a packet data network gateway (PGW) wherein the request indicates an address to a local ANIP server; receiving a set of rules related to the requested activation of the policy from the PGW, wherein the set of rules are defined for a packet data network (PDN) session applicable for the ANIP service; and communicating over the communication network based on the received set of rules. Methods, application clients, PGWs, ANIP servers, computer programs, and a computer program for OTT management in a communication network are also presented.

A method and apparatus for device authentication and authorisation, wherein the method comprises: receiving, at an authentication and authorisation node, a device authorisation request comprising identity information for an application executed by a device and a first application specific container containing application specific information; identifying, using the device authorisation request, the application to which the request relates, and checking the authorisation status of the application; if the application is for use, transmitting an authorisation approval, the authorisation approval comprising the first application specific container containing application specific information.

Methods and apparatus for device authentication and authorisation

A method performed by a communication device in a network comprising mobile networks operated by mobile network operators, MNOs, is provided. The method includes signaling to a first server to discover a second server having information about a public land mobile network identifier and a network service of a MNO. The second server has a first fully qualified domain name, FQDN, pointing to a provider domain. The method further includes receiving a response including a resolution or a redirection of the FQDN; signaling to discover the information about the network service; and receiving a response from the second server including a first identification of the information about the network service of the MNO or a second identification that the network service is not available. Corresponding methods performed by a first server and a second server are also provided.

Cross-mobile network operator server

The embodiments herein relate to a method in a Policy and Charging Rules Function, PCRF, node () for handling Access Point Names, APNs. The PCRF node receives, from a Core Network, CN, node (), a request message comprising information indicating a first APN associated with a packet data connection. The request message is a request for a second APN being configured for a wireless device () arranged to communicate via the packet data connection. The PCRF node selects a configuration for the wireless device (), and selects the second APN adapted to the selected configuration from a plurality of candidate second APNs. Each candidate second APN in the plurality comprises different configurations for the same packet data connection. The PCRF node transmits a response message to the CN node (). The response message comprises information indicating the selected second APN.

A method in a communication system includes a first core network node (CN), a second CN, a base station apparatus serving a user equipment (UE), and a packet data network gateway (PGW) associated with the UE, the method being performed by the first CN. The method includes the first CN receiving a tunneling endpoint identifier (TEID) information element from a second CN, the TEID information element comprises a plurality of fields. Example embodiments presented herein are directed towards a mobility management node and a communications node, and corresponding methods therein, for the handling of a RAN congestion status. The example embodiments presented herein allow for a means of providing an accurate RAN congestion status in an efficient manner.

Node and method for RAN congestion status handling

The present invention handles Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) applications in an efficient manner. The present invention is a session aware Diameter relay agent that correlates sessions that require binding and relay sessions to the same AAA server, such as a Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) server. In one embodiment, the relay agent may be arranged to select a Diameter server and forward the user equipment (UE) request to the respective server while registering the server selection. The Diameter server may be a PCRF server.

Method and system for correlating authentication, authorization and accounting sessions

The present invention faces the issue of authorizing transactional services by a Policy and Charging Control system. To this end, the present invention provides for an apparatus carrying out a method of authorizing transactional services and comprising: an authorization requester for submitting a transactional service authorization request with a user identifier and a transactional service identifier, and an authorizer for receiving the transactional service authorization request. This authorizer comprises: a PCRF server for authorizing the transactional service based on subscription and service data, an OCS for authorizing the transactional service based on credit authorization, and a decider for deciding service authorization for the transactional service based on the authorizations respectively made by the PCRF server and OCS. The authorizer of this apparatus is also arranged for submitting a transactional service authorization response to the authorization requester with a decision on service authorization for the transactional service.

Method and apparatus for authorizing a transactional service by a policy and charging control architecture

The invention discloses a node () for use in a wireless access communications system () which is arranged to transmit information to and receive information from a PCRF (), a Policy and Charging Rules Function, in the system. The information to and from the PCRF () is transmitted over a Gx interface, and the node is also arranged to count the amount of a defined service in the system which is used by a user, a UE () in the system during a defined period of time and to take a defined course of action when said amount of the defined service reaches a threshold value. The node () is arranged to be able to reset said count at a defined point in time, a 'reset point', and the information which the node it is arranged to receive from the PCRF () comprises information on said reset point.

Reset functions

A communication system includes a user equipment (UE)and a gateway. The UE () sends data packets on one or more bearers () to the gateway. One or more packet filters () are installed in the UE () for associating the data packets with the bearers (). A decision is performed if installation of a new packet filter () in the UE () is required to map the data packets of indicated data traffic to a particular bearer (). The result of the decision may then be indicated from a policy controller () to a gateway () and/or from the gateway () to the UE (). Depending on the result of the decision, the gateway may initiate signaling of the new packet filter () to the UE () and/or the UE () may install the new packet filter ().

Controlling packet filter installation in a user equipment

A communication system includes a user equipment (UE) and a gateway. The UE sends data packets on one or more bearers to the gateway. One or more packet filters are installed in the UE for associating the data packets with the bearers. A decision is performed if installation of a new packet filter in the UE is required to map the data packets of indicated data traffic to a particular bearer. The result of the decision may then be indicated from a policy controller to a gateway and/or from the gateway to the UE. Depending on the result of the decision, the gateway may initiate signaling of the new packet filter to the UE and/or the UE may install the new packet filter.
