A patient transfer and training aid includes a chassis to which a lifting unit is attached. The lifting unit includes a lifting arm assembly and an active foot support assembly fixed to the chassis. The device also includes a control unit which operates motors of the lifting arm assembly and the active foot support assembly. A patient can activate the foot support assembly to provide vibratory movement of the foot support assembly in order to provide muscle toning and training able to assist in the recovery and rehabilitation of the patient. The device can also be used to aid in the transfer of a patient from one location to another. The device can be used in a variety of different configurations to provide different forms of patient support and training.

A hoist device for lifting persons, said hoist device comprising holding means (); and a hoist sling comprising attachment means (), said attachment means () being connectable to the holding means (). A calf rest is provided for a patient chair. The calf rest may comprise a plate-shaped calf rest pad and a mounting is be mounted on the patient chair by means of a joint arrangement. The joint arrangement may be designed so that the calf rest pad is movable between an inactive moved-away end position, in which the extent of the calf rest pad is substantially parallel to one side of the patient chair and the calf rest pad can be positioned close to the patient chair, and a second active end position, where the calf rest pad is capable of supporting the patient's legs when extended, outwards away from the patient chair.

An apparatus for facilitating, in handicapped patients, undressing, dressing and access to body parts between the waist and knees of the patient. The apparatus includes a seat () and a back support () which between them form an open region () in which a person located in the apparatus is not supported. The seat and the back support are disposed to be displaced between positions in which the person is placed in positions where the major proportion of the patient's weight is carried by the seat or in which the major proportion of the patient's weight is carried by the back support.
