There is provided a self-propelled conveyor for use in mining operations having an endless revolving conveyor strand driven in its longitudinal direction by intermediate drives and guided on a conveyor frame which consists of segments multi-directionally pivotally connected to one another along the central longitudinal axis of the conveyor. The conveyor frame has downwardly extendible support elements which, for the conveying operation, lift the conveyor strand reversing in the lower stringer from the ground when the support elements are extended. For the transporting operation, the support elements are retracted so as to permit the strand to lie on the ground. Between the segments of the conveyor frame disposed in the front region of the conveyor there are steering cylinders by means of which the angle between these segments can be adjusted so as to direct the longitudinal direction of the conveyor.

Conveyor

A curve-negotiating conveyor particularly for use in underground mining operations wherein the conveyor can be designed to any desired length since it compensates for the extension of the conveyor track occurring over the extended length of the conveyor without the positively operating driving devices becoming disengaged. The conveyor has a track forcibly guided on an undercarriage, the links of the track being flexibly joined to one another and the track resists tension and compression. The undercarriage is comprised of undercarriage segments being flexibly joined to each other and having limited lengthwise displacement. Some of the individual segments of the undercarriage are connected with driver devices having sprocket wheels that positively engage the conveyor track.

Curve-negotiating endless conveyor system

A self-advancing roof support for the face roof support in underground mining operations, having a plurality of supporting frames with self-advancing mechanisms acting perpendicular to the breast of the working, which mechanisms advance the supporting frames in the direction of the breast of the working. In order to facilitate the relocation of a winning face equipped with such a self-advancing roof support, these supporting frames have a plurality of self-advancing gears acting parallel to the breast of the working, to successively shift the supporting frames in the lateral direction parallel to the breast of the working, so as to produce a cut or road for the installation of a new winning face at a head side of the face equipment and to advance the self-advancing roof support sideways into the road together with the complete face equipment while maintaining the formation.

A remote controlled bolt removing device for bolts securing the head of a reactor pressure vessel is provided which includes a vertically movable rotating device which automatically grips and turns the bolts and at least one hydraulic cylinder for raising and lowering the rotating device. A mine roof support structure includes a floor skid, a supporting shield pivotally connected thereto by a pair of rocker arms forming a lemniscate guide, a roof cap pivotally connected at a roof cap joint to the shield, and hydraulic props supporting the roof cap. A hydraulic actuator is pivotally connected at opposite ends to the skid and to one of the arms, and the other of the rocker arms is disposed nearer the coal-face end of the support than the one arm. Such other arm is longitudinally adjustable and is pivotally connected at opposite ends to the skid and to the shield. This other arm is so constructed that its opposite ends may be adjusted relative to one another to enable the cap and the roof cap joint to follow a lemniscate path during settling of the roof and to follow a circular arc during a lowering of the cap toward the skid upon actuation of the hydraulic actuator.

Mine roof support structure

Disclosed is a device comprising a connecting bolt having a gripping profile near one end and a coupling element having a profile adapted to engage the profile of the connecting bolt. The profile of the connecting bolt is a plurality of projecting teeth separated by grooves where the spacing between at least some of the teeth and the depth of at least some of the grooves increases toward the end of the connecting bolt. The profile of the coupling element is a plurality of teeth separated by grooves which generally correspond to the profile of the teeth of the connecting bolt. However, the spacing between at least some of the grooves relative to the teeth on the connecting bolt is slightly greater and becomes increasingly greater from the groove adapted to engage the tooth of the connecting bolt nearest the end of the bolt to the groove adapted to engage the tooth of the connecting bolt furthest from the end of the bolt.

Connecting bolt and coupling element

A fluid-operated device for simultaneously pretensioning a plurality of bolts connecting a first body to a second body in which the bolts are screwed with threaded end portions thereof into corresponding threaded bores in the second body and project with clearance through bores in the first body and with opposite threaded end portions thereof beyond the first body. The device comprises a carrier member arranged on the side of the first body opposite the second body and provided with a plurality of bores through which the bolts extend with clearance, a first nut screwed on the projecting other end portion of each bolt, at least one fluid-operated piston arranged on said carrier member movable along an axis parallel to those of the bolts and engaging with an end thereof the first body so as to simultaneously tension, when operated all of the screw bolts, and a second nut on an intermediate threaded portion of each bolt turnable into engagement with the first body after the bolts have been tensioned so as to hold the bodies in tight engagement with each other by the tensioned bolts.
