Process for the production of detergent tablets for dishwashing machines

A detergent compact for dishwashing machines based on alkali metal metasilicates, pentalkali metal tripolyphosphates, active chlorine compound, and surfactant. The compact comprises a cold water-soluble tablet (1) or melt (2) of the metasilicates, tripolyphosphates and surfactant, and a warm water-soluble melt (1) or tablet (2) of the metasilicates, tripolyphosphates and active chlorine compound. The tablet (1) and melt (1) or melt (2) and tablet (2) are combined into a compact having varying solubility at varying water temperatures.

Detergent compacts

A detergent tablet for a dishwashing machine wherein at least about 10% by weight of the tablet is dissolved in the pre-rinse cycle of said machine. The tablet comprises a mixture of hydrated sodium metasilicate, anhydrous sodium metasilicate, anhydrous penta-alkali metal tripolyphosphate wherein the ratio by weight of the anhydrous tripolyphosphate to the anhydrous sodium metasilicate is from about 1:2 to 2:1, an active chlorine compound, and a tabletting aid comprising a mixture of from about 1 to about 5% by weight of sodium acetate and from about 2 to about 6% by weight of spray-dried sodium zeolite NaA, based on the weight of the tablet.

Detergent tablets for dishwashing machines

Tablets having a broad solubility profile containing a mixture of sodium metasilicate nonahydrate and anhydrous sodium metasilicate with a grain size of from 0.2 to 0.8 mm in a ratio by weight of from 1:0.75 to 1:1.2, anhydrous pentasodium triphosphate having a grain diameter of 0.2 to 0.3 mm, and 0.5 to 5% by weight of an active chlorine donor. The ratio by weight of pentasodium triphosphate to metasilicates is about 1:1 to 1:1.7, based on anhydrous substances. The tablets are used in automatic dishwashing machines where they are introduced into a free zone of the machine before the start of the prerinse cycle, at least 10% of the tablets being dissolved by inflowing cold water and at least another 70% being available in the main-wash cycle.

Detergent tablets of uniform composition for dishwashing machines

A multilayer detergent tablet for dishwashing machines based on alkali metal metasilicates, pentaalkali metal triphosphates, active chlorine compound, and surfactant. The tablet comprises a first cold water-soluble layer of alkali metal metasilicate nonahydrate, pentaalkali metal triphosphate, and a low-foaming nonionic surfactant; and a second layer which dissolves rapidly at increasing water temperatures comprising alkali metal metasilicate, pentaalkali metal triphosphate, and an active chlorine compound.

A free-flowing granulate of a powder-form or fine-grained component and a liquid component; the granulate containing at least 20% by weight of the liquid component, is prepared by moving the powder-form or fine-grained component in a mixer-granulator, adding the liquid component while mixing until a moist granulate having a particle size of at most 1.5 mm is obtained, subsequently coarsening the granulate thus obtained with an increase in temperature to a particle size of from 0.4 to 4 mm and optionally coating this coarse granulate with another powder-form and/or fine-grained component at 60.degree. to 90.degree. C. The optionally coated granulate is converted by lowering the treatment temperature into a dry-looking, free-flowing, coarse-grained product, which if desired, may be coated with another powder-form and/or fine-grained material. Despite the high percentage of a liquid component, the granulate thus obtained appears as a dry granulate and is free-flowing.

A powdery activator for per compounds is granulated by, at the same time, mixing it together with nonionic surface-active compounds certain nitrogen-containing compounds and, optionally, the water-soluble salt of an alkane polyphosphonic acid. The granulate thus obtained is powdered with a powdery absorbent and the powdered granulate is sprayed with a liquid binder and dried to a water content of at most 6% by weight. After the addition of a tablet disintegrating agent, the dried granulate is formed by compression under special conditions into tablets having special properties. When added to a wash liquor containing a standard detergent containing a per compound, the tablets improve the removal of fatty/oily stains, pigment-containing soil and bleachable stains.
