A method of producing a hydrogenation catalyst, for example, a phthalate hydrogenation catalyst, comprising contacting a silica support having a medium pore size of at least about 10 nm with an acid to produce a treated silica support, and depositing a noble metal, preferably ruthenium, on the treated silica support to produce a noble metal-containing silica support, and optionally contacting the noble metal-containing silica support with a chelating agent to form the hydrogenation catalyst; a hydrogenation catalyst prepared by that method; and a method of hydrogenating unsaturated hydrocarbons, such as, phthalates, in which an unsaturated hydrocarbon is contacted with hydrogen gas in the presence of the hydrogenation catalyst of the invention.

Hydrogenation catalyst, its method of preparation and use

A process for ring hydrogenation of a benzenepolycarboxylic acid or derivative thereof, includes contacting a feed stream comprising the acid or derivative thereof with a hydrogen containing gas in the presence of a catalyst under hydrogenation conditions to produce a hydrogenated product, wherein the catalyst contains rhodium and ruthenium.

In a feed clean-up process at least two adsorbents () are installed in front of an oligomerization reactor (). Olefin feed is sent over one adsorbent () and the nitrile poisons are adsorbed so that clean feed will enter the reactor (). Before the adsorbent () will be saturated, the feed () is sent to the other, fresh adsorbent (). At the same time oligomerization product from the reactor () is used to desorb nitriles from the spent adsorbent ().

The invention relates to an olefin oligomerization process comprising the steps of: i) contacting a feed comprising olefins and nitriles with a guard bed comprising eta alumina; and ii) contacting the feed obtained in step i) with an oligomerization catalyst under conditions suitable to oligomerize the olefins in the feed. It also relates to the use of a guard bed comprising eta-alumina for reducing the content of basic organic compounds in a hydrocarbon feed.

Olefin oligomerization process

A process is described, such process comprising i) contacting a hydrocarbon feed with a heterogeneous catalyst under conditions suitable to hydrolyze nitriles present in the feed to form a nitrile hydrolysis product comprising ammonia, carboxylic acid and carboxylate salts or a mixture thereof; and ii) removing the nitrile hydrolysis product from the feed. In an embodiment, the hydrocarbon feed comprises olefins and is intended for use in an olefin oligomerization process.

Process for nitrile removal from hydrocarbon feeds

The conversion and run length for oligomerization of olefins over a molecular sieve catalyst in a tubular reactor is improved by controlling the peak temperature to not exceed 50 degrees C. above the temperature of the temperature control fluid exiting the shell side outlet of the reactor. A tubular reactor containing molecular sieve catalyst is provided with a multipoint thermocouple in at least one tube, and optionally with a bottom design adapted for fast unloading of the molecular sieve catalyst from the tubular reactor.

Oligomerisation of olefins with zeolite catalyst

Treatment at elevated temperature and advantageously superatmospheric pressure with an inert gas, especially nitrogen, rejuvenates molecular sieve catalysts deactivated by use in liquid-phase or supercritical or dense-phase olefin oligomerization, or by use in aromatic alkylation.

Molecular sieve catalyst treatment

The selectivity of an olefin epoxidation process catalyzed by a heterogeneous catalyst for example titanium silicalite is improved by performing the epoxidation in the presence of carbon dioxide. The catalysts used do not require regeneration on each recycle.

Oligomerization and catalysts therefor

In a process for oligomerizing an olefinic hydrocarbon feedstock comprising sulfur-containing molecules, the feedstock is contacted in the absence of hydrogen with a first metal oxide catalyst at a temperature in excess of 150&#xb0; C. and then is contacted under olefin oligomerization conditions with a second catalyst comprising a crystalline molecular sieve, such as ZSM-22 or ZSM-57.
