The disclosure relates to a bell plate for a rotary atomizer for applying a coating agent (e.g. paint) to a component (e.g. motor vehicle body component). The bell plate according to the disclosure comprises a metallic base body and a transponder which can be read out wirelessly and is integrated in the bell plate. The disclosure provides that the transponder is arranged on the front side in the base body or is embedded in the outer outer circumferential surface of the bell plate, which facilitates the read-out of the transponder. Furthermore, the disclosure comprises a suitably adapted atomizer cleaning device having an antenna for reading out the transponder in the bell plate. Finally, the disclosure also comprises a correspondingly adapted operating method.

The disclosure relates to a rotary atomizer for applying a spray jet of a coating agent (e.g. paint) to a component (e.g. motor vehicle body component). The disclosure provides that the construction dimensions of the rotary atomizer are coordinated in such a way that the air pressure at the outlet opening of the paint nozzle during operation is lower than the air pressure in the nozzle chamber of the bell cup and in the external rinsing channels in order to prevent a backflow of the coating agent from the outlet opening of the paint nozzle backwards in the direction of the nozzle chamber due to the pressure difference.

Rotary atomizer

The disclosure relates to a program-controlled coating robot for coating components. A robot path is preset and application parameters observed by the applicator are also preset based on real coating operation during movement along the robot path. There is a virtual determination of a coating result for the predetermined robot path and the predetermined application parameters. The disclosure provides steps for virtual determination of the coating result including generating real spray pattern data and/or reading out real spray pattern data from a database as a function of the predetermined robot path and/or the predetermined application parameters, the read-out real spray pattern data reproducing a spray pattern which the applicator generates during a real coating operation with the predetermined application parameters and/or on the predetermined robot path, and determining the coating result taking into account the real spray pattern data read out from the database or the generated spray pattern data.

Coating thickness optimization and programming method for a coating system and corresponding coating system

The disclosure relates to a method for programming a program-controlled coating robot for coating components. A robot path is preset and application parameters observed by the applicator are also preset based on real coating operation during movement along the robot path. There is a virtual determination of a coating result for the predetermined robot path and the predetermined application parameters. The disclosure provides steps for virtual determination of the coating result including generating real spray pattern data and/or reading out real spray pattern data from a database as a function of the predetermined robot path and/or the predetermined application parameters, the read-out real spray pattern data reproducing a spray pattern which the applicator generates during a real coating operation with the predetermined application parameters and/or on the predetermined robot path, and determining the coating result taking into account the real spray pattern data read out from the database or the generated spray pattern data.

The present disclosure provides a coating plant components and an assembly of such components for a rotary atomizer. The components may be a bell cup and/or an atomizer ring. The component includes a metal main part and a non-metal material at least partially covering or coating the main part. The coating or insert of non-metal material is positioned to provide a barrier to inhibit metal-on-metal contact between, e.g., a bell cup and an atomizer ring. The present disclosure further provides a method for applying non-metal material to a coating plant component.

Various exemplary illustrations of an electrode assembly for an electrostatic atomizer, for example for a rotation atomizer, and exemplary methods of making and/or using the same, are disclosed. An exemplary electrode assembly may not include an electrode holder arrangement for holding at least one electrode creating an electrostatic field about a symmetrical axis, wherein there is dielectric material for influencing a discharge current component extending in the direction of the symmetrical axis.

Exemplary illustrations of a bell cup for a rotary atomizer and method of using the same are disclosed. The exemplary illustrations are generally directed to the control of the rotating bell plate of a rotary atomizer used for the serial coating of work pieces. An air flow component may be created by the structural design of the bell plate and/or of an element of the rotary atomizer and by the rotation of the bell plate. The air flow component may correspond to the bell plate design, and the element may be adjacent to the bell plate and stationary relative to same. The air flow component may be measured and compared to a predefined reference value.

An ink jet is disclosed that may be placed in a bell plate of a rotary atomizer and, when thus placed, forms an annular gap between the ink jet and a distribution disc recess of the bell plate. An exemplary illustration has a common rinsing agent channel running in the ink jet for conducting a rinsing agent for rinsing the bell plate, a first rinsing agent outlet that is supplied with rinsing agent by the common rinsing agent channel and directed forward in a substantially axial direction toward a distribution disc of the bell plate, and a second rinsing agent outlet that is supplied with rinsing agent by the common rinsing agent channel. In the installed state, an exemplary second rinsing agent outlet may empty into the annular gap between the distribution disc recess and the ink jet in order to clean the annular gap with the rising agent.

A rotary atomizer is disclosed, comprising an atomizer bell and a shaft carrying the same. The rotary atomizer may further include a retainer between the atomizer bell and the shaft, said retainer preventing, e.g., by the action of a centrifugal force, the atomizer bell from detaching itself from the shaft.

A rotary atomizer arrangement and methods for operating the same are disclosed. An exemplary atomizer may be used for the coating of work pieces, and may include a bell plate driven by an electric motor. The exemplary atomizer may further be configured for the detection of errors in the spraying process and/or the drive system of the bell plate, such as by analyzing corresponding parameters of typical values of the drive motor.

The exemplary illustrations relate to an atomization system for a rotary atomizer for applying a coating agent, comprising a rotatably supported bell plate for atomizing the coating agent and for dispensing a spray jet of the coating agent, and comprising a guiding air ring for dispensing a first guiding air flow and a second guiding air flow for producing the spray jet dispensed by the bell plate. The two guiding air flows may comprise separate guiding air flow feeds and may further be set independently from each other. Universal atomizer

A rotary sprayer for a coating apparatus is disclosed. An exemplary rotary sprayer may include a spraying body configured to be mounted on a drive shaft of a drive motor for rotation with the drive shaft. The spraying body may further include a detachable mounting device for coaxial connection of the spraying body to the drive shaft. The detachable mounting device may include a spraying body thread that mates with a driveshaft thread defined by the drive shaft, and a plurality of elastic tabs configured to abut a corresponding cavity defined by the driveshaft, such that rotation of the spraying body increases an abutment force between the elastic tabs and the corresponding cavity of the driveshaft.

A guiding air ring for a rotary atomiser for coating components, such as motor vehicle body parts, is disclosed. The ring generally includes a front side facing a bell plate of the rotary atomiser in the operating state, and at least one guiding air nozzle for outputting a guiding air flow for forming a directed spray emitted from the bell plate. The ring may also include a cavity which is rotationally arranged in the front side of the guiding air ring in an annular manner. A correspondingly adapted bell plate is also disclosed.
