A fuel supply system for a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine employs a controllable differential pressure for the removal of air from a main air duct into a carrier air duct for proportioning the fuel to be used. The fuel system includes a fuel proportioning device and a vane pump for withdrawing a carrier air flow from the main air duct and for transporting the fuel through feed lines to the internal combustion engine. The pressure of the air at the fuel outlet and the differential pressure for fuel proportioning is controlled by a differential pressure valve located in the carrier air duct spaced from the main air duct. The differential pressure valve has a diaphragm dividing the interior of the valve into chambers with one side of the diaphragm acted upon by the air pressure in the carrier duct between the differential pressure valve and the main air duct. The other side of the diaphragm is acted upon by the pressure in the carrier air duct downstream from the differential pressure valve and also by a variable force depending on the parameters of the engine. To prevent pulsations in the air flow from disadvantageously affecting the differential pressure valve, the diaphragm in the valve is separated by a partition from a space in which such pulsations are effective. The air pressure in the carrier air duct upstream from the differential pressure valve acts in the space and the partition has a nozzle for admitting the air pressure to the one side of the diaphragm.

Fuel supply system

A fuel-air mixture arrangement with an air-compressing supercharger for a combustion engine with continuous fuel injection into the intake pipe which holds an air quantity meter, a pivotal ram flap and a throttle flap are arranged behind each other. The air quantity meter, depending on its deflection, actuates a fuel metering unit. The fuel metering proceeds at constant pressure drop in the fuel. This pressure drop can be varied depending on certain coefficients, and the pressure drop on a valve is varied by a control pressure valve to which controlling variables are applied. The set pressure drop at the metering cross sections of the fuel metering units is kept constant by the valve operated by the control pressure valve. The air quantity meter is located downstream of the air compressing supercharger and the control pressure valve receives the supercharger air pressure prevailing upstream of the throttle flap via a diaphragm unit. The control pressure valve may be connected to a thermostat located in the supercharger air flow.

A fuel supply arrangement with a fuel metering valve for external-ignition combustion engines, in which continuous fuel addition is provided to the intake pipe. The latter has an air funnel acting jointly with a throttle member coaxially located and axially movable. The throttle member is adjustable against a restoring force via intake pipe underpressure acting in a working chamber which can be vented into atmosphere. The throttle member is actuated by a diaphragm located in a diaphragm housing having one chamber connected to the atmosphere, and having a second chamber at intake pipe underpressure. The second chamber can be vented to atmosphere by a valve having an actuation position which is arbitrarily variable through relative spatial arrangement of a tripping element on the throttle, and the valve. Either the tripping element or the valve is connected rigidly to the axially movable throttle member and the other one of these two elements is connected to an arbitrarily adjustable linkage of the gas pedal. The fuel is under a system pressure which is made variable by a pressure regulator as a function of one or several engine characteristics, and the fuel is delivered to a fuel exit by the fuel metering valve controlled as a function of the position of the throttle member.

A control arrangement for mixture compressing injection combustion engines with an air metering arrangement. For metering the fuel quantity in relation to the air quantity, there is provided a pivotable flap in the air suction line upstream of an arbitrarily actuated butterfly valve. This pivotable flap is urged by a spring in the closing direction. The flap is located outside the flow cross section in the suction line wall, and responds to the difference between pressures acting upstream and downstream of the flap. The flap also controls a device for metering the fuel quantity with a part of the flap representing the pivotable wall of a chamber located outside the flow cross section of the air suction line. A connection is provided from the chamber to the suction line downstream of the flap. A support axis upstream of the flap region determines the air flow cross section on the end of the flap facing away from the flap region, with the wall extending between this flap region and the support axis. The wall has an effective working surface which is larger than the flow cross section of the air suction line. The flap, furthermore, has at least one side wall with a curve track on which a lever is guided by a roller, and is located on an axis of the device for metering the fuel quantity.
