Device for controlling a starting process, which comprises an engine equipped with a power regulating element. The position of the power regulating element, which is equipped with an actuator, can be controlled by a control device, to which signals are sent indicating the activation position of an accelerator pedal as well as the speed of a crankshaft of the engine. The crankshaft can be connected via a clutch to a gear input shaft. When a predetermined speed limit value of the crankshaft is reached, the actuator of the power regulating element can be activated by the control device for the purpose of limiting the crankshaft speed. A clutch pedal is provided, by means of whose activation the starting process can be controlled.

An arrangement for monitoring the wear status of a friction clutch in the drivetrain of a motor vehicle driven by an internal combustion engine includes a wear detection circuit that responds to speed information representing the instantaneous input speed of the friction clutch supplied by a first speed sensor and to information supplied by a movement sensor representing the beginning of a starting process. The wear detection circuit supplies, as a measurement for the loading of the friction clutch during a starting process, load information which is a predetermined monotonic function of a value of the first speed information following the beginning of movement after a predetermined time interval. The monotonic function could also be of a mean value from a plurality of values of the first speed information succeeding one another at predetermined time intervals following the beginning of movement.

A motor vehicle including a unit (2) consisting of an internal combustion engine, a generator supplying current to electric motors (12, 16) coupled with driving wheels (14, 18) over an energy distributor/power electronics system (8) and a battery which is supplied with energy by the internal combustion engine/generator unit via the energy distributor (2). An electronic control system (20) controls the energy distributor (8) as a function of a driving signal according to boundary conditions, for example, according to the least possible specific fuel consumption. A temporary increase in the power required to drive the motors can be supplied by the battery (22). In the event that the increase in power lasts for longer periods, the internal combustion engine, which as far as possible operates in a state that ensures low fuel consumption, is accelerated in order to cover the demand for high power. At the maximum output of the internal combustion engine, the energy stored in the battery (22) supplies the power for the additional thrust.

An apparatus for determining a critical driving torque and information representing the coefficient of friction at the wheel grip limit for a vehicle having a plurality of driven wheels. It is suggested that torque control devices be assigned to at least two of the driven wheels so that the ratio of the driving torques of the two driven wheels can be varied, wherein torque sensing device generate a torque signal corresponding to the magnitude of at least the greater of the driving torques of the driven wheels. A wheel slip sensing device is associated with the driven wheels and detects an increase in the slip of the wheel with the greater driving torque beyond a predetermined limit. The information on the coefficient of friction is generated depending on the magnitude of the detected driving torque of the wheel whose slip exceeds the limit. To determine the information concerning the coefficient of friction, the distribution of driving torque between the front axle and rear axle is periodically increased in an alternating manner.

For the protection of an automatized friction clutch of a motor vehicle it is proposed, by means of a computer device (23) to compute periodically data for the instantaneous friction performance of the clutch (5) and to add them up in several also periodically actualized time window stores. The time window stores have different time windows and correspondingly store a range of friction work mean values. Associated with the individual time window stores are respectively several limit values, the magnitude is additionally a function of the air temperature of a clutch casing (37) surrounding the clutch (5). A fly-wheel includes a first part and a second part. Both parts are rotatably mounted with respect to the other. Torsional springs are provided in torque-transmitting engagement between the two parts of the fly-wheel. Further, a friction device is provided between the two parts. This friction device is controlled by fly weights and a biasing spring such that below the idling rpm of an internal combustion engine driving the fly-wheel the friction device maintains an increased frictional torque-transmission between the two part.
