Process and apparatus for producing packs with glued folding tabs

In the manufacture of certain types of packets, rotary folding units (10) are used which have along their perimeter a plurality of hollow folding mandrels (14) projecting at one side. On these mandrels, blanks, namely inner blank (10) and pouch blank (11) are folded in succession. Holding bands (34, 59) serve to position the blanks exactly on the folding mandrels (14), said bands extending outside the movement region of the folding mandrels (14) and lying with a holding bight (35) against the side of the folding mandrels (14), or the blanks, lying radially on the outside, fixing same as they do so.

The core of a packaging machine for cigarette packets or similar packets is a rotary folding unit (11). On the perimeter of the folding unit, there are arranged holding members for packets or packet contents, for example folding mandrels (18) on the one hand and holding pockets (21) on the other hand. For reasons to do with their construction and/or function, the latter are positioned at an axial spacing from one another. In order to transfer packets or packet parts from the folding mandrels (18) to the holding pockets (21), the latter may moved relative to one another, in such a way that, in a transfer region, the folding mandrels (18) and the associated coaxial holding pockets (21) lie directly against one another.

Packaging machine for the production of cigarette packets

A method for manufacturing labels and for applying each of the labels to an end wall of a cigarette packet. The method includes separating the labels from a continuous web moving in a horizontal direction with the width of the web parallel to a vertical plane. Only one side of the web is provided with printed areas for a succession of the labels, and severance cuts are provided in the web to form the labels between the areas. Separation of the labels occurs at the cuts. After the labels are separated, they are continuously transported by a suction conveyor belt moving in a vertical plane substantially parallel to the vertical plane of the web. The labels are held separated from each other by negative pressure from the belt which acts on the printed side. Glue is applied to the print-free side of the labels on the belt by a phased and non-contact application of at least on row of successive glue spots extending along the longitudinal dimension of the label. Then the labels are applied to the packets.

Packaging machine for producing cigarette packs, having a folding turret (10), on the circumference of which there are arranged receiving means or pockets (26) for packaging material and pack contents along with movable folding elements and other elements assigned to the receiving means or pockets (26). The folding turret (10) is subdivided into a plurality of, in particular two, sub-turrets (17, 18) which are positioned equiaxially one beside the other in the axial direction and are connected releasably to one another. In the manufacture of (cigarette) packets, especially of the soft-case type, the handling of critical, namely thin, packaging material on powerful packaging machines is problematic. A holding disc (26), to the peripheral surface (40) of which the blank (12) is adjacent, and a transverse supporting and conveying member (34) which is attached to the holding disc (26) and grasps a front end of the blank (12) by means of suction air, serve to lead blanks (12) to a rotary folding unit (10) and to take the blanks (12) by means of mandrels (11).

Device for manufacturing packets from thin packaging material

An apparatus for the production of packs (10), especially cigarette packs. In the manufacture of packs (10) by a packaging machine, it may be desirable, for several reasons, to separate individual predetermined packs out of the feed flow and to supply them for suitable use. This involves, in particular, faulty packs (23) which are gripped by an outward-transfer wheel (26) in the region of a separating-out assembly and are transferred to a separate pack conveyor (45).

Soft packs for cigarettes, especially soft-cup packs, acquire an additional reinforcement in the region of a bottom wall (20) by means of a two-layer or multi-layer design of a cup blank (21, 22) in the region of the bottom wall (20). The two-layer or multi-layer reinforcement of the cup blank (22) can also extend into the region of adjoining pack walls.

A special transfer turret (15) is used for conveying packs (10) from, for example, a folding turret to a drying turret. The transfer turret transports the packs (10) along a circular path or partially circular path and in the axial direction at the same time. For this purpose, pockets (16) for packs (10) are fitted on carrying rods (28) which are displaced in an axis-parallel direction during the rotation and in accordance with the same.

Apparatus for conveying packs

For the production of soft-cup cigarette packs, use is made of folding mandrels (13) which are designed as hollow bodies, on the outside of which pack blanks (12) are folded, and into which a cigarette group (11) is pushed. To produce a precise pack, the folding mandrel (13) preferably consists of two mandrel parts (19, 20) which are connected to one another by thin laser-weld seams (21, 22). The two mandrel parts are made of spring-steel sheets. The folding mandrel (13) so designed is releasably fastened to a folding turret in a special way via a connecting piece.

Hinge-lid boxes comprise box part and lid. In order, in the case of this type of pack, to ensure an exact closed position of the lid before use, connecting webs or material webs are formed between lid and box part, said webs being severed when the lid is opened. Preferably, the material webs are located exclusively in the region of inner side tabs and lid side tabs, for connection of the same in the region of an obliquely directed abutment edge and mating edge.

For high-performance packaging machines, a correspondingly large stock of cigarettes must be supplied. A container magazine (11 ) serves for receiving a plurality of containers (12) combined to form storage units (18). Each container receives a relatively large number of cigarettes. Filling takes place via a bottom wall (17). The storage units (18) can be moved up and down and transversely within the container magazine (11). The containers (12) are also designed in a special way, in order to guarantee fault-free filling and emptying.

Apparatus for the transport and stocking of cigarettes

Packages consisting of two part packs are in increasing demand as so-called cigarette sticks, because consumers want 'half sticks', that is to say part packs having a smaller number of cigarette packs. The part packs are produced from a common one-piece blank which is severed before the package is put on sale, so that part packs formed from two part blanks are obtained. These are connected to one another by means of severable connecting members, especially adhesive strips. The mechanical high-performance production of such packages composed of two part packs is carried out in a folding turret. A one-piece blank is introduced into pockets of the folding turret and almost ready-folded. The groups of cigarette packs are then pushed via open sides into the part packs within the pockets.

A bundle pack, especially a cigarette carton, formed from a plurality of cuboid packages which are wrapped in an outer wrapper made of cardboard, paper or plastic film has to be designed such that the individual cigarette packages can be easily marked on one outer side without opening the outer wrapper. For this purpose, the outer wrapper is provided with cut-outs which are located in the region of the outer sides of the packages. Adjacent cut-outs (17) are delimited from one another by narrow webs (19) of the outer wrapper (14).

Disclosed is an apparatus for turning (cigarette) packs. Laterally acting driven turning belts (21, 22, 23, 24) serve for turning (cigarette) packs (10) during transport of the packs along a pack track (18). Two pairs of turning belts (21, 22) and (23, 24) act upon lateral regions of the packs (10) which arrive in a position, in which their longitudinal dimension is directed transversely relative to the conveying direction. The turning belts (21, 22) of the one side are driven at a different speed compared to the turning belts (23, 24) of the other side, so that the packs (10) are oriented in an increasingly oblique manner during transport. After the packs (10) have assumed an extreme oblique position, the turning procedure is completed by stationary lateral guides (40, 41) which are disposed so as to converge in the conveying direction.
