The present invention relates to polysiloxane nanoparticles having the following properties: an average particle size d(measured using REM recordings) in the range of 10-200 nm, a specific surface area Aof at least 50 m/g, a pore volume of at least 0.2 cm/g, an average pore volume dof at least 0.8 nm, wherein the particles have groups that contain carbon, which groups are bonded to the silicon at least partially in the form of unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, arylalkyl, or alkylaryl groups. Said polysiloxane nanoparticles can be produced, among other things, in that either a silazane or a mixture of different silazanes having one or more &#x2014;[Si(R)(R)&#x2014;NR]&#x2014; units and/or a silane or a mixture of different silanes having the formula R'&#x2014;SiXor an oligosiloxane obtainable by means of hydrolytic condensation of said silane/said silanes or a mixture of such oligosiloxanes are provided in a solvent and brought in contact with a strongly alkaline medium in such a way that the pH is not below 13 after the addition thereof. In specific embodiments, synthesis in acid is also successful.

Organically functionalized polysiloxane nanoparticles, method for the production thereof, and use thereof

The present invention relates to a composition containing silico-organic nanohybrid and/or microhybrid capsules for scratch-resistant and/or abrasion-resistant coatings, wherein the silico-organic nanohybrid and/or microhybrid system includes one or more small metal oxide cores A and a substantially complete, silico-organic shell B, and the composition can be obtained by a reaction performed in situ, in a synthetic resin or in a synthetic-resin precursor compound, between metal oxide particles (KA-O) and at least one organofunctional silicon compound which contains an organofunctional group and at least one hydrolyzable group or at least one hydroxy group. The present invention also relates to the use of such compositions as the base for lacquers for producing a scratch-resistant and abrasion-resistant coating on a substrate as well as articles provided with corresponding scratch-resistant as well as abrasion-resistant coatings.

High-temperature resistant polymerizable metal oxide particles having a glass transition temperature of the homopolymerizable &gE;100&deg; C. and a core A. The core includes an oxide of a metal or semimetal of the third to sixth main group, of the first to eighth subgroup of the periodic table, or of the lanthanides, and has at least one group &mdash;(B) &mdash;X bound via the oxygen atom of the oxide or hydroxide, in which B represents a binding link, and X represents a reactive functional group, and w is equal to 0 or 1. The inventive particles are useful, in particular, for producing coating materials, molding materials and adhesives.
