The invention relates to an exhaust-gas turbocharger () as well as in particular a guide apparatus () for an exhaust-gas turbocharger (). The guide apparatus () can have a ring of guide vanes (), which are pivotable on a vane bearing ring () by vane studs (). The vane studs () can be each attached to a vane lever (). The vane levers () can have vane-lever-connectors (), which interact with unison-ring-connectors () of a unison ring () which is pivotable with respect to the vane bearing ring () in a way, that pivoting the unison ring () with respect to the vane bearing ring () results in a synchronous movement of one or more of the vane levers () and guide vanes (). The unison ring () can be radially supported on axial bosses () of several vane levers ().

An exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine comprises a turbine in the exhaust line and a compressor, which is driven by the turbine and which is located inside the intake tract of the internal combustion engine. The turbine comprises a flow duct having a radial flow entrance cross-section, and a flow ring is provided that delimits the flow entrance cross-section. An adjustable vane is placed in the radial flow entrance cross-section for variably adjusting this flow entrance cross-section. The flow ring inside the housing of the exhaust gas turbine can be axially displaced between a contact position toward the vane and a position that frees a gap toward the vane.

In an exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine comprising a radial flow exhaust gas turbine and a compressor, which is connected to the turbine via a shaft, the turbine having a radial inflow duct and a radial inlet flow passage, which leads to the turbine wheel and in which a variable geometry vane structure for changing the cross-section of the radial inlet flow passage is supported between two support walls fixed to the turbine casing, one of the support walls projects into the inflow duct, in such a manner that the rear side of this support wall is spaced from the inner wall of the inflow duct wall so that the exhaust gas within the inflow duct is in contact also with the rear side of this support wall.

Exhaust-gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine with variable turbine geometry

An exhaust-gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine has a turbine in the exhaust-gas tract and a compressor, driven by the turbine, in the intake tract, the turbine having a flow channel with a radial flow-inlet cross-section and a semi-axial flow-inlet cross-section, and a flow ring being provided which limits the two flow-inlet cross-sections. The turbine is furnished with variable turbine geometry for the changeable adjustment of the flow-inlet cross-section. To improve efficiency, the position of the flow ring in the housing of the exhaust-gas turbocharger is variably adjustable.

An exhaust gas turbocharger comprising a turbine with a guide apparatus comprising a ring of guide vanes arranged concentrically around a rotor axis and pivotable between two end limits. A first securing ring is arranged at the side of a bearing housing for mounting a first trunnion of each guide vane which is also mounted at the side of an oppositely disposed turbine housing. An adjusting mechanism is provided for adjusting one of the two end limits, and the guide vanes are freely pivotable under the influence of flow forces in the resulting predetemined angle adjustment range. The arrangement makes possible a compact construction which can be fabricated at reduced cost and easily assembled. This is achieved by an assembly containing the guide apparatus and the adjusting mechanism, and which includes a second securing ring arranged at the side of a turbine housing for mounting a second trunnion of each guide vane. The assembly has an inner diameter which is larger than the outer diameter of the turbine wheel, and the two securing rings are connected to each other in axially spaced relation by connecting elements to form a flow channel in which the guide vanes are disposed.
