Refrigerated display cabinet and method of dispersing a buildup of refrigerant gas

A refrigerated display cabinet () includes a refrigeration loop including a compressor, a condenser, a throttling element and an evaporator which are connected; a main body () including a storage space (), wherein the evaporator () is located within the main body and is for supplying cooling to the storage space (); and a container () located outside of the storage space () and containing at least one of the compressor, condenser and throttling element, wherein the container () comprises a vent () configured to discharge any build-up of gases within the container () outwardly.

Refrigerated display cabinet

A cooling system comprises a refrigeration circuit () circulating a refrigerant and comprising in the flow direction of the refrigerant at least one compressor (); at least one condenser (); at least one expansion device (); and at least one evaporator () for providing a cooling capacity. Cooling system

A vapor compression system () has: a compressor (); a first heat exchanger (); a second heat exchanger (); an ejector (); separator (); and an expansion device (). A plurality of conduits are positioned to define a first flowpath sequentially through: the compressor; the first heat exchanger; the ejector from a motive flow inlet through () an outlet (); and the separator, and then branching into: a first branch returning to the compressor; and a second branch passing through the expansion device and second heat exchanger to a secondary flow inlet (). The plurality of conduits are positioned to define a bypass flowpath () bypassing the motive flow inlet and rejoining the first flowpath at essentially separator pressure but away from the separator.

Refrigerant vapor compression system operation

A transport refrigerant vapor compression system includes a controller for controlling operation of the transport refrigerant vapor compression system. The controller is configured to modulate a discharge pressure of the refrigerant compression device to control a cooling capacity of the transport refrigerant vapor compression system. The controller is configured to modulate the discharge pressure of a refrigerant compression device to control the cooling capacity of the transport refrigerant vapor compression system using both a refrigerant reservoir and an auxiliary expansion device without affecting superheat of the transport refrigerant vapor compression system.

Capacity and pressure control in a transport refrigeration system

A refrigerant vapor compression system includes a compression device having at least a first compression stage and a second compression stage, a refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger disposed downstream with respect to refrigerant flow of the second compression stage, and a refrigerant intercooler disposed intermediate the first compression stage and the second compression stage. The refrigerant intercooler is disposed downstream of the refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger with respect to the flow of a secondary fluid. A second refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger may be disposed downstream with respect to refrigerant flow of the aforesaid refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger, and a second refrigerant intercooler may be disposed intermediate the first compression stage and the second compression stage and downstream with respect to refrigerant flow of the aforesaid refrigerant intercooler.

A flash tank economizer includes a sensor for sensing a condition indicative of pressure in the flash tank, and when that pressure is found to equal or exceed the critical pressure of the particular refrigerant being used, a controller responsively closes a valve in the economizer vapor line to shut off the economizer. A sensor is also provided to sense the pressure at the compressor mid-stage, and if that pressure is found to exceed the pressure in the flash tank, the controller causes the flow control device to function so as to prevent the flow of refrigerant from the compressor mid-stage to the flash tank. Provision is also made for selectively draining refrigerant from the flash tank to reduce the pressure therein from a supercritical to a subcritical condition.

Flash tank economizer cycle control

A method for distributing a refrigerant charge level in a refrigerant vapor compression system includes restarting a stopped refrigerant compression device in a first mode; operating a primary expansion device independent of refrigerant heat absorption heat exchanger superheat; comparing a condition at a refrigerant reservoir to a prescribed condition; wherein when the condition is below the prescribed condition for a prescribed interval, operating the primary expansion device to control the refrigerant heat absorption heat exchanger superheat; and transitioning the refrigerant vapor compression system to a second mode.

Refrigerant distribution apparatus and methods for transport refrigeration system

A refrigeration system includes a compressor having a first stage and a second stage; a heat rejecting heat exchanger including an inter-cooler and a gas cooler, the intercooler coupled to an outlet of the first stage and the gas cooler coupled to an outlet of the second stage; an unload valve coupled to an outlet of the intercooler and a suction port of the first stage; a flash tank coupled to an outlet of the gas cooler; a primary expansion device coupled to an outlet of the flash tank; a heat absorbing heat exchanger coupled to an outlet of the primary expansion device, an outlet of the heat absorbing heat exchanger coupled to the suction port of the first stage; and a controller for executing a startup process including controlling the unload valve to direct refrigerant from the intercooler to the suction port of the first stage.

Transcritical refrigerant vapor system with capacity boost

The present disclosure provides a refrigerant vapor compression system includes a compressor () having a suction port and a discharge port, a refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger () operatively coupled downstream to the discharge port of the compressor, a refrigerant heat absorption heat exchanger () operatively coupled downstream to the refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger, a compressor suction inlet line connecting the refrigerant heat absorption heat exchanger to the suction port of the compressor, and an adiabatic expansion device () operatively coupled to the suction inlet line. A sensor operatively coupled to the suction inlet line measures a superheat value of the refrigerant. The refrigerant vapor compression system further includes a controller () in communication with the sensor. The controller is configured to operate the refrigerant vapor compression system in a first mode when a pressure of the refrigerant downstream of the adiabatic expansion device is greater than a threshold value, and operate the refrigerant vapor compression system in a second mode when the pressure of the refrigerant downstream of the adiabatic expansion device is less than the threshold value. The compressor continues to operate in both the first mode and the second mode.

Low suction pressure protection for refrigerant vapor compression system

A refrigerant vapor compression system () includes a plurality of components, including a flash tank (), connected in a refrigerant flow circuit by a plurality of refrigerant lines (). The system internal volume equals to the sum of the internal volumes of the plurality of components and the internal volume of the plurality of refrigerant lines. The internal volume of the flash tank ranges from at least 10% to about 30% of the total system internal volume.

Refrigeration storage in a refrigerant vapor compression system

A system has a compressor. A heat rejection heat exchanger is coupled to the compressor to receive refrigerant compressed by the compressor. An ejector has a primary inlet coupled with heat rejection heat exchanger to receive refrigerant, a secondary inlet, and an outlet. The system has a heat absorption heat exchanger. The system includes means for providing at least of a 1-10% quality refrigerant to the heat absorption heat exchanger and an 85-99% quality refrigerant to at least one of the compressor and, if present, a suction line heat exchanger.
