A recessable luminaire (), having a dome-shaped reflector and a light source located at least partially outside the reflector () such that a light source () carried by the carrier is located within the reflector (). A mounting ring () is arranged to engage the reflector () around and near its edge region. The mounting ringhas connection means for attaching the light source carrier ().
