The device (2) for changing the outside coating color of the extruded product is seated directly in the extrusion head (1), thus minimizing the length of the duct (25) in which the colored extrudates would be liable to mix; on the other hand, since no colored extrudate can stagnate upstream from that duct, the colored coating is always composed of freshly extruded material. Thus, the transition from one color to another is extremely short on the finished product, so that no faulty material is to be found on that product. The color changing device is essentially composed of an axially movable needle-valve (24) which can be actuated by various means. Through design modifications of this needle-valve, a two-color coating can be produced. An extrusion head equipped with such a device is particularly well adapted to the solid or expanded insulation of electric conductors, although other types of extruded objects can also be produced according to the same principle.

Extrusion head with color-changing device

A distributor body comprises in its contact surface connection grooves which can communicate in different ways, according to the angular position of the body, with intake and outlet conduits. Rotation of the body is controlled by a motor. A stack of elastic washers acting upon a pusher ensures a suitable pressure of the contact surface against a homologous contact surface.

Flow distributor

An extrusion head (12) is mounted on a support (11) borne by a movable assembly (8). By rotation of two arms (9 and 10) about their pivoting axes on a base (6), the extrusion head is moved from a preparation position to a working position. Beforehand, another extrusion head (14) which had been in working position was removed after opening of a clamp (21) and maneuvering of another movable assembly (18) so as to reach the preparation position, where new tooling can be put in place, adjusted, and regulated, and where the extrusion head can be preheated.

A movable connection part of an extrusion head is integral with a fixed connection part in a connection unit wherein each moveable connection part and fixed connection part includes elastically deformable tubular members inserted into bores. Jaws are connected to a knuckle-jointed system, which when actuated by a single jack in one direction, will move the jaws away from one another to free the connection parts and when moved by the single jack in an opposite direction, will press the connection parts against one another by acting upon bevels.

Device for fluid-tight connection of an extrusion head

A rock drilling apparatus for drilling with high pressure hydraulic jet including a rock drill body (11), a drill tool (12) coupled to said body (11) and a feeding device (15) with a motor (16) for feeding said body and tool to and fro the working face. The drilling tool (12) has an inner rotating tube (40) with a high pressure nozzle body (41) at the nose thereof and an outer tube (42) surrounding said inner tube (40). Said outer tube (42) is provided with a hard metal collar (61) at the front end for protecting the nozzle body (41) and for calibration of the drill hole size. A sensing device including a pressure operated switch 73 and an adjustable time relay (83) is adapted for sensing the feed resistance met by said collar (61) and causing said feed motor (16) to retract said drill body (11) and tool (12) when a preset value of the resistance is exceeded.
