Chlorine-containing polymers can be stabilized against thermal and actinic degradation by addition of a) a sterically hindered amine, b) a zinc compound, c) a calcium, magnesium and/or barium compound, and d) a 1,3-dicarbonyl compound. Other additives such as phosphites or epoxides can further improve the stabilization.

Stabilized chlorine-containing polymers

Chlorine-containing polymers can be stabilised against thermal and actinic degradation by addition of a sterically hindered amine and a zinc compound in the absence of other organometallic compounds. It is preferred additionally to add a 1,3-dicarbonyl compound.

The invention relates to compositions comprising 20-80% of a vinyl chloride homopolymer (PVC) and 80-20% of at least one copolymer selected from the group consisting of polystyrene/polyethylene/butylene, acrylate/rubber, acrylate/rubber/styrene, acrylonitrile/styrene/acrylate, ABS, NBR, NAR, SAN, EVA and modified EVA, which compositions are stabilized with at least one tin compound of formula
