Soft-case packet plus method and device for manufacturing same and other packets. On soft-case packets for cigarettes, blanks for an inner wrapping (17) and an outer soft pouch (18) made of paper or the like are folded in usual fashion on a hollow folding mandrel (10) of a rotary folding unit (12). Folding flaps of the soft pouch (18) are connected to one another by glue in the region of a side wall (23) and in the region of a base. The glue is applied by glue nozzles during the manufacture of the packet as a row of glue spots (26, 41) to the respective folding flaps, i.e. to an inner flap (24) lying radially on the outside in relation to the rotary folding unit (12) and to the inner side of an outer base flap (39) extending in the direction of the perimeter.

In the actuation of sealing jaws (12) for sealing of folding flaps of packages in conjunction with packaging machines, an active period of the sealing jaws independent of the working speed (rate of cycling) of the packaging machine is obtained by an actuating means (cam rocker 16), which is set off during each operating cycle of the packaging machine by a driving means with an accurately defined driving phase (stepping motor 23).

In the course of a process carried out on a packaging machine for (cigarette) packs, it is necessary for glue spots to set. For this purpose, there is a drying turret (20) which is equipped with a plurality of sawtooth-shaped pockets (27) directed approximately radially. These form chambers (31) which are arranged offset relative to one another and which are each intended for receiving a pack (21). It is thereby possible to handle effectively even only partially filled pockets (27).

Small tear-open strips 10 are fed to a sheet 11 of packaging material in a timed sequence and applied to the sheet by reciprocating conveying members 22, 23 which only grip in one direction, so that the strip is pulled along in steps. As a result, a high performance and especially the transition from intermittent conveyance of the strip to continuous transport of the sheet of packaging material are possible.

Process and apparatus for attaching small tear-open strips to packaging

A wrapping machine for U-folding a sheet of wrapping film or material around a group of cigarettes which are being conveyed along a longitudinal path to a wrapping station. The sheet of wrapping material is fed transversely into the path at the wrapping station and held there by a pair of suction rollers. Reciprocating longitudinally along the path is a receiver into which the group of cigarettes is conveyed. Before the group of cigarettes reaches the wrapping station, the forward end of the receiver engages the sheet of wrapping material and strips it from the suction rollers to form a U-shaped fold about the group of cigarettes as the group moves forwardly out of the receiver into the wrapping station. Thus, the group of cigarettes itself is not subjected to the stress required in removing the wrapping material from the suction rollers.
