A seal is proposed between the drum () having a plurality of cartridge chambers () and a weapon barrel () of a drum cannon, wherein the seal comprises at least one elastically pretensioned obturation ring (). Each cartridge chamber () has an obturation ring () for drum-side integration, while one obturation ring () suffices for barrel-side integration. The obturation is integrated between the two and is pressed against the face () of the weapon barrel () or the face of the cartridge chamber () that is aligned with the bore axis of the weapon barrel () such that immediate sealing occurs even at low gas pressures.

Obturation of drum cannons

It is proposed that a loading chamber of a weapon with a breech mechanism no longer be part of a cannon tube but rather that it form, together with a breechblock, a unit, which additionally contains a device for firing ammunition and which can move relative to the bore portion of the cannon tube. This design solution can be used in all weapons with various and different breech mechanisms.

Weapon with breach mechanism

The invention concerns a sliding block breech mechanism for a cannon with a breech ring arranged at the rear end of a cannon barrel and with a sliding breech block that slides perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the cannon barrel in a cavity of the breech ring. To achieve an improved distribution of force inside the breech ring when the cannon is fired compared to previously known sliding block breech mechanisms and thus to optimize the maximum stress load, the invention proposes to provide a sliding block breech mechanism whose sliding breech block has at least two lugs arranged axially one behind the other, wherein the pressure flanks of the first lugs, i.e., the lugs closer to the cannon barrel, have a positive direction of inclination, and the pressure flanks of the second lugs have a negative direction of inclination. The directions of inclination of the pressure flanks of the roots of the walls of the breech ring, which roots correspond to the lugs, correspond to the directions of inclination of the pressure flanks of the two lugs of the sliding breech block.

Sliding block breech mechanism for a cannon

An apparatus for the section-wise autofrettage of gun barrels () by a hydraulic pressure generated inside the barrel. The apparatus (&#x2033;) comprises a mandrel-shaped insert (&#x2033;) inserted into the barrel () from the breech opening. A first sealing device () is disposed at one end of the insert (&#x2033;), and has a seal packet () disposed on a seal seat () of the insert (&#x2033;). The seal seat () is limited at the front by a threaded sleeve () screwed onto the insert (&#x2033;), and an annular intermediate part () adjoining the threaded sleeve () at the rear. The seal packet () includes at least one O-ring () held by a shoulder () of the mandrel-shaped insert (&#x2033;), and a high-pressure seal () formed by two partial rings () that are connected to one another by a conical contact surface ().

Apparatus for the section-wise autofrettage of gun barrels

A large-caliber weapon includes a barrel having a longitudinal barrel axis; a cradle supporting the barrel; a breech ring mounted on an end of the barrel; a breech wedge disposed in the breech ring for linear displacements transversely to the barrel axis; a control lug affixed to the breech wedge; and an opening lever pivotally mounted on the cradle for angular displacements about a lever axis oriented perpendicularly to the barrel axis. The opening lever is disposed externally of the breech ring and has an initial position and an actuated end position. The opening lever is engaged by the control lug of the breech wedge in a position of rest of the barrel such that upon motion of the opening lever from its initial position to its actuated end position, the breech wedge is moved from a closed position into an open position. Further, an external drive is provided which is mounted on the cradle and a mechanical coupling mechanism connects the external drive to the opening lever for effecting pivotal motion of the opening lever.
