In known brake pressure control units having two pressure control valves arranged in parallel, a tipping lever arrangement is provided for the distribution of the preload force provided by a spring to the control valves which in the event of a failure of one brake circuit will increase the change-over point of the intack brake circuit. This tipping lever arrangement is complicated. Therefore, a brake pressure control unit having two pressure control valves arranged in parallel is disclosed in which the arrangement for the distribution of the preload force comprises a piston tiltable within limits which piston is subjected to the spring force and is directly operatively connected with ends of the two control pistons.

Pressure control unit

An arrangement of guiding a caliper of a floating caliper disc brake comprising two axial pins fixed to a carrier member and projecting away from the disc through guiding openings in the caliper. At the other side of the disc the caliper is detachably fixed to a brake pad having a backing plate which is axially slidably arranged between two arms extending from the carrier beyond the edge of the disc, the backing plate being locked in the radial direction at one of the two arms. This guiding arrangement avoids clamping forces and allows easy replacement of the brake pads.

Known pressure reducing valves for brake systems of automotive vehicles are provided with a stepped piston and a valve. Upon attainment of the switching pressure the valve is closed and the pressure is reduced at the outlet according to the ratio of surfaces of the stepped piston. These known pressure reducing valves are insecure in their operation, complicated in their structure and expensive in their manufacture. These disadvantages are overcome in accordance with the present invention by providing a valve closing unit including an elastic rubber sealing body disposed at the inlet end of a pressure medium connection in the piston between an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber. When the switching pressure is reached this sealing body closes the pressure medium connection. If the pressure in the outlet chamber is greater then the pressure in the inlet chamber, the sealing body due to its elasticity lifts off the inlet side of the pressure medium connection.

Pressure reducing valve

In a known motorcycle brake system, the pedal master cylinder acts on the front-and rear-wheel brakes, and the hand master cylinder acts only on the front-wheel brake. The brake force regulator's control behavior is influenced by the hand master cylinder. This known arrangement has functional disadvantages, since the rear-wheel brake is evacuated of fluid if the hand master cylinder alone is actuated. In addition, the regulator's change-over point is reached at a relatively high pressure. These disadvantages are eliminated by the regulator of the present invention by the provision of a valve adapted to closed independently of the position of the regulator's stepped piston. The stepped piston is not moved when the hand master cylinder alone is actuated. Also, the regulator of the present invention provides an improved deceleration of the motorcycle.

Brake force regulator for a motorcycle hydraulic brake system

In a known tandem master cylinder with a regulator, machining and assembly of the parts is complicated which renders the master cylinder costly. Moreover, such an arrangement is only realizable with master cylinders having a large diameter. There are also functional disadvantages, particularly in the event of failure of one brake circuit, the brake fluid volume consumption of the other brake circuit is materially increased which results in an additional increase of the pedal travel. To avoid these shortcomings, the present invention provides a tandem master cylinder with a regulator including an arrangement, which in the event of failure of the front-axle brake circuit, mechanically actuates the regulator valve coupled to the rear-axle brake circuit by a pressure piston to keep the regulator valve in the open position to enable unreduced braking pressure to be coupled to the rear-axle brake circuit.

Tandem master cylinder

A floating-caliper disc brake having a brake carrier with two radially extending arms embracing the bridge portion of the brake caliper and a pair of guide pins which are resiliently supported at both ends by the caliper. The middle portion of the guide pins slidably engage cylindrical cups which are secured to the brake carrier arms. The brake is easy to manufacture and provides good caliper alignment.

Floating-caliper disc brake

A brake disc is connected to a hub to be braked in a non-rotatable and axially displaceable relationship by an elastic soft steel band disposed between and frictionally engaging arcuate projections of the hub and arcuate projections of the brake disc which are disposed between the projections of the hub. With this arrangement the axial displacement of the disc will not require high forces and will not be impaired by corrosion or high temperatures.

A brake shoe for a spot-type disc brake includes a carrier plate composed of several plates lying on top of one another, a backing plate and a friction pad secured to one surface of the backing plate. One surface of the carrier plate adjacent the friction pad includes flanges at the ends thereof to embrace the backing plates and the other surface of the carrier plate remote from the friction pad includes flanges to engage a supporting member of a brake housing to transmit the circumferential force at the friction pad during braking to the supporting member.

the brake shoe holding device includes two support members spaced apart from each other in the direction of a secant relative to the brake disc each having grooves which are opened radially outwardly on each side of the brake disc to slidably guide an associated end of an associated brake shoe. Each of the grooves are formed to cooperate with an associated end of an associated brake shoe so that frictional force ocurring at the brake shoes, at least in the presence of increased brake-applying force, is transmitted to both support members.

Brake shoe holding device for a spot-type disc brake

There is disclosed a caliper guide for a floating-caliper disc brake comprising parallel grooves in adjacent guide surfaces of the caliper and caliper support and roller elements supported in the grooves to movably connect the caliper and caliper support. By means of this caliper guide, low sliding forces are achieved without the occurrence of a clearance which could lead to disturbing rattling noises.
