A sensor system for determining at least one parameter of a fluid medium flowing through a channel, in particular of an intake air mass of an internal combustion engine. The sensor system has at least one sensor chip situated in the channel for determining the parameter of the fluid medium. The sensor chip is accommodated in a sensor carrier that extends into the channel. The sensor carrier has an inflow edge situated transversely to the flow of the fluid medium, which on its part has at least one turbolator, which is equipped to develop turbulences in the flowing fluid medium in the area of the sensor carrier.

Sensor system for determining a parameter of a fluid medium

A device for determining at least one parameter of a fluid medium, in particular an intake air mass of an internal combustion engine. The device comprises a sensor chip for measuring the parameter and a control and evaluation electronics having a circuit carrier. The sensor chip is situated on a chip carrier capable of being introduced into the fluid medium. The chip carrier comprises a projection of the circuit carrier developed in one piece with circuit carrier, the sensor chip being fixed in place on the projection.

Hot film air mass meter and method for its manufacture

A hot-film air-mass meter for measuring an air-mass flow which flows in the main direction of the flow, which can be used, in particular, in the intake tract of an internal combustion engine. The hot-film air-mass meter comprises a sensor chip having a measuring surface. The air-mass flow flows essentially parallel over one surface of the sensor chip. A flow separating element is mounted upstream from the measuring surface with respect to the main flow direction. The at least one flow separating element is designed in such a way that the air-mass flow is separated from the measuring surface of the sensor chip in at least one separation zone prior to reaching the measuring surface.

An ultrasonic flow rate meter and a method for measuring the flow rate with the aid of ultrasound are described, having at least two ultrasonic transducers situated offset in a flow channel in the flow direction for transmitting and receiving ultrasound wave packets, so that ultrasound propagation times from one of the ultrasonic transducers to the other, and vice-versa, can be determined in an electronic part, and having a pressure sensor associated with the flow channel for determining the pressure in the flow channel. Measured values for an engine control that is as accurate as possible are determinable by accurately detecting the incoming air in the intake of a motor vehicle internal combustion engine.

A micromechanical sensor and a method for manufacturing a micromechanical sensor which has at least one membrane are provided. The membrane is made of a first material which is accommodated in a surrounding second material, and the membrane is configured for sensing a medium surrounding it. The membrane is reinforced, at least partly, by a third material at break-sensitive points on the membrane rim. Reinforcement of the membrane rim increases the stability and thus also the service life of the membrane and the sensor.

Methods and/or devices for detecting the flow rate of a flowing medium, in particular the flow rate of a flowing air mass, are described, in which the flowing medium is detected with two evaluation methods that operate according to different principles and the two measurement signals obtained are set in relation to each other in order to determine correction methods. Since the two measurement methods react differently to interference effects, the comparison of the two output signals permits conclusions to be drawn as to the type and the order of magnitude of the interference effects and a corrected measurement signal can be obtained, which is independent of the interference effects.

A method for cleaning of a measuring element () passed over by a gas flow is arranged on a thin-walled membranous material (). The measuring element () includes at least one heatable element (), which is arranged on the membranous material, the membranous material being capable of vibrating. By means of a control apparatus () or a switching () associated with the measuring element, a periodic delivery of current () in intervals takes place in this manner to at least one heatable element () of the measuring element () and thereby produces vibrations. Alternatively, vibrations of the membranous material () can be produced by special vibration exciters or by means of ultrasonic coupling.

A device includes a sensor carrier, on which is arranged a sensor element introduced into the flowing medium. The sensor carrier is produced separately, and the at least one sensor element may be inserted immediately into the sensor carrier. For example, the sensor carrier is mounted on a component of the device by adhesive.

A gas flow determination method and a corresponding gas flow determination device. A sensor device including a diaphragm and a frame enclosing it is provided; a predetermined temperature profile is created on the diaphragm; the gas flow to be determined is directed over the diaphragm in a predetermined direction of flow; the change in the temperature profile caused by the gas flow is detected; and the gas flow is determined on the basis of the change thus detected. The temperature at a third location on the diaphragm upstream from the first location and optionally at a fourth location downstream from the second location is regulated at a value corresponding to the local value of the predetermined temperature profile. In devices for measuring the mass of aspirated air of an internal combustion engine, for instance, via a line, it is already known to provide a tubular body inside this line and to provide a temperature-dependent measuring element inside the tubular body. In order that dirt particles and liquid droplets entrained by the aspirated air will be kept away from the measuring element, in accordance with the invention, a protective screen is disposed inside the tubular body, upstream of the measuring element; the screen extends in inclined fashion in the flow direction, and dirt particles and liquid droplets are deposited on it and carried to a downstream end of the protective screen, so that via an outflow opening they can reach the inner conduit wall of the tubular body and be made to bypass the measuring element.

The invention relates to a device having a sensor carrier, which comprises a sheet-metal element and a plastic element and on which a measuring element introduced into the flowing medium is disposed. The use of plastic, which for the most part covers the sheet-metal element, means closer tolerances, which improve the performance of the sensor carrier both in terms of its facing into the flow and experiencing a flow around it, for instance by providing it with an improved aerodynamic leading edge, or the measuring element can be mounted flush to the surface and flush with edges of a sensor cavern, so that no turbulence occurs in the medium in the region of the measuring element or flow under the measuring element. The sensor region of the measuring element is reliably protected by recesses in the longitudinal edges and by a special adhesive bonding process from a gel emerging from the electronic evaluation circuit, so that the measuring characteristic curve behavior is not altered.

The sensor element includes a membrane that supports a measuring element, which membrane encloses a hollow space embodied in the sensor element on the side remote from the sensor support. The sensor element is secured in the recess by means of a glue between the sensor support and a bottom face of the sensor element oriented toward the sensor support. According to the invention, the glue constitutes a glue seam that extends around the hollow space of the sensor element between the sensor support and the bottom face of the sensor element and is only open on the side remote from the flow direction by means of at least one recess in order to ventilate the hollow space.
