In a hydrodynamic heat generator for a motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine having a cooling water circuit with a circulating pump, the hydrodynamic heat generator comprises a generator housing part which is integrated with a pump housing part and defines a water space which is in communication with the pumping space and includes a bladed rotor and a bladed stator firmly supported in the generator housing part adjacent the water space and an electromagnetic clutch for engagement of the bladed rotor with a drive shaft which extends through the heat generator housing part into the pump housing part and carries, at its end in the pump housing part, an impeller for circulating the cooling water.

Hydrodynamic heat generator for a motor vehicle

Method of and apparatus for control of the heating capacity of a hydrodynamic brake which is associated with a liquid-cooled internal combustion engine, in the cooling medium circuit of which heat exchangers, a cooling medium circulating pump and the hydrodynamic brake acting as a heater are arranged. A regulation of the state of charge of the working chamber of the hydrodynamic brake occurs by a pressure regulator valve. In the case of a method and apparatus for controlling the heating capacity taking an available drive power into consideration, the pressure regulator valve which influences the heating capacity is controllable as a function of the load of the internal combustion engine.

Mode of control of the heating capacity of a hydrodynamic brake

A hydrodynamic device, including a vaned rotor wheel, a vaned stator wheel and an electromagnetic clutch, is located, as a heater, in a cooling water circuit of an internal combustion machine and can be switched on and off as a function of the temperature of the medium to be monitored. In order to obtain a further use for such a hydrodynamic device, the latter is arranged in such a way that, in a switched position in which it is not effective for heating, it is effective as a hydrodynamic clutch for driving the water pump.

An adjustable drive for auxiliary aggregates of internal combustion engines in which some auxiliary aggregates such as the fan are adapted to be driven from the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine by way of an adjustable V-belt drive automatically regulatable under the influence of the centrifugal force in such a manner that at smaller crankshaft rotational speeds, a transmission with a speed-up results whereas at higher crankshaft rotational speeds a transmission with a speed reduction results; the control range of the V-belt drive is thereby subdivided at least into two partial ranges by a corresponding matching of the lever arms of the flyweights and/or of the spring forces, respectively, of the spring forces themselves, between which lies a range with constant transmission ratio.

A hydrodynamic retarder for vehicles with an internal working circulation within a working space between at least one rotating and one fixed blade wheel and with an external cooling circulation, whereby the filling of the working circulation takes place from a filling cylinder actuated by a pressure medium, whose actuation is controllable by an actuating device such as a hand brake lever by means of a control valve; a relay valve is thereby arranged in the pressure medium inlet line which, in its turn, is controllable by the actuating device by means of the control valve.

A hydrodynamic retarder for vehicles, especially for motor vehicles, with an internal working circulation within a working space having at least one rotating blade wheel and at least one stationary blade wheel, with an external cooling circulation that can be filled by way of a filling and discharge line out of a pressure-medium-actuated filling cylinder and which includes a by-pass or control valve, and with a lubricating line which connects the sealing spaces of the retarder shaft both with the center of the working space as also with a control member of the control valve and with a reservoir tank that is arranged at a higher level than the retarder and is additionally connected with the filling and discharge line by way of a closure valve. A first check valve, opening in the direction toward the working space, is arranged in the connection between the lubricating line and the center of the working space while a second check valve, constructed as a venting valve, is arranged in a connection line disposed between an inlet of the retarder and the reservoir tank. The second check valve opens in the direction toward the retarder inlet of the cooling circulation, and a throttle is provided for controlling the flow through this second check valve.

A continuous brake for motor vehicles, especially for heavy commercial vehicles, in the form of a hydrodynamic coupling, which is filled from a storage device during actuation of the brake valve and which is automatically emptied into the storage device when the brake valve is disengaged, a solenoid-actuated threeway valve is thereby arranged in the line from the brake valve to the storage device which, when energized, closes the line from the brake valve and vents the line to the storage device while a switch is connected in the energizing circuit of the solenoid valve which closes during actuation of the clutch pedal when the clutch is disengaged.
