A copper alloy for use as material for a casting mold or a casting mold component selected from the group consisting of mold plate, mold tube, casting wheel, casting drum, casting roller, and melting crucible. The copper alloy includes, in percent by weight (proportion by mass of the melt analysis in %): silver (Ag) 0.020-0.50, zirconium (Zr) 0.050-0.50, phosphorus (P) not more than 0.060, chromium (Cr) not more than 0.005, balance copper (Cu) and other alloying elements including unavoidable impurities, with a proportion of the other alloying elements being less than or equal to (≤) 0.50.

Use of a copper alloy

A liquid-cooled permanent chill mold for the continuous casting of metals, including a permanent chill mold plate () made of copper or a copper alloy and an adapter plate (), on which the permanent chill mold plates () are fastened via fastening bolts (). A permanent chill mold for the continuous casting of metals, comprising a mold tube () placed in a water box, a water gap being formed between the inner side of the wall of the water box and the outer side () of the mold tube (). In the water gap, at least one sheet metal water deflector () is situated, the mold tube () being supported at least in one direction to be laterally freely shiftable with respect to the water box and the working position of the mold tube () being adjusted by the flow relationships in the water gap.

Permanent chill mold

A liquid-cooled permanent mold for the continuous casting of metals, comprising mold plates () made of copper or a copper alloy, which are connected respectively to an adapter plate or a water-cooling tank by clamping bolts, the clamping bolts being fastened to plateau pedestals () that protrude in an insular fashion from the coolant side (), which at least partially extend into a coolant gap formed between the mold plate () and the adapter plate or the cooling-water tank, and have a streamlined form adjusted to the flow direction of the coolant. The coolant side () has cooling ribs () that extend into the coolant gap and are situated from place to place between two adjacent plateau pedestals ().

Liquid-cooled permanent mold for the continuous casting of metals

A liquid-cooled permanent mold for a continuous casting installation having a shaping permanent mold body, for example, made of copper or copper alloy. Cooling channels are provided in permanent mold body that extend from its upper side to its lower side. The cooling channels each have two longitudinal sections and the cooling sections have an alignment of their longitudinal axes that differ from one another. In this way, the horizontal distance of the cooling channels from the casting surface is varied and a cooling performance is achieved that is adjusted to the weighting profile of the permanent mold.

Liquid-cooled permanent mold

A cooling plate () made of copper or a copper alloy for blast furnaces has a plurality of bore holes () for accommodating a cooling medium. The bore holes () are connected to a cooling medium intake () and a cooling medium outlet via connecting pipes () that are welded onto the cold side of the plate (). Connecting pipes (), at their plate ends (), are furnished with flanges () that are formed by being flanged open. These flanges () are set into recesses () in the cold side of the plate (), and are welded at their circumference by V seams () to the cold side of the plate ().

Cooling plate

A continuous casting roll for the continuous casting of metal strip. The continuous casting roll has an essentially cylindrical core and a jacket, for example, made of a copper alloy, that is shrunk onto it. A relaxation zone is provided between the core and jacket. The relaxation zone, for example, having a radial extension of 1 mm, may be formed by a regional increase in the inside diameter of the jacket, and may be situated in the middle longitudinal range of the jacket.

Continuous casting roll

A liquid-cooled ingot mold is provided for the continuous casting of metals. The mold is made up of mold plates or a chill tube made of copper or a copper alloy, which are connected to a support structure by fastening bolts. The mold plates or the chill tube is connected to the support structure without clamping. A working gap exists between the support structure and the mold plates or the chill tube.

Liquid-cooled ingot mold

A plant for the continuous casting of aluminum strip, according to current construction type, has two counterrotating continuous casting rolls (), between which a casting gap () is formed. According to the present invention, the 1. continuous casting roll () is made of a copper material at least in its circumferential edge region, and the other, 2. continuous casting roll () is made of a steel material at least in its circumferential edge region. The copper material should have a thermal conductivity &#x3bb;of 230 to 260 W/m&#xb7;K, and the steel material should have a thermal conductivity &#x3bb;of 30 to 40 W/m&#xb7;K. Rejecting the prevailing idea that casting can only be performed with two continuous casting roll materials of the same kind, so as to ensure uniform crystal growth, a continuous casting roll pairing of steel and copper is provided in the present invention. In order to ensure a qualitatively high value casting microstructure, the difference in the thermal conductivity of the continuous casting rolls should not exceed a factor from 5 to 9. A ratio of thermal conductivity &#x3bb;of the copper material to thermal conductivity &#x3bb;of the steel material of 6:1 to 8:1 has proven particularly favorable.

Cast-rolling plant

A liquid-cooled mold for a continuous casting of metals, including mold plates made of copper or a copper alloy, which are connected respectively to an adapter plate or a cooling-water tank by clamping bolts. The mold is characterized in that the clamping bolts are fastened to plateau pedestals which project in an island-like manner from the cooling arrangement side of the mold plate, which jut at least partially into a cooling arrangement gap formed between the mold plate and the adapter plate or the cooling-water tank, respectively, and have a streamlined shape adjusted to the flow direction of the cooling arrangement.

Liquid-cooled mold

A liquid-cooled mold for the continuous casting of metals, including mold plates made of copper or a copper alloy, which are supported at their rear on supporting plates by the use of a plurality of bolts. The bolts have bolt heads in the region of the backsides of the supporting plates facing away from the mold plates. Between the bolt heads and the supporting plate an articulation system making possible relative motion between the mold plate and the supporting plates is incorporated, having two articulation members, between which a sliding element is undetachably embedded.
