Folded printed products () are supplied with trailing fold-edges () from above towards a clamping gap () and are pushed out of the clamping gap (), in order to be deposited on, for example, saddle-like supports (). As soon as the leading edge of each printed product () exits from the clamping gap (), the printed product () is opened by two printed product parts (and) being separated from each other, and the opened printed products are positioned above the support (). Gripper elements () are provided for gripping the trailing fold-edge () of each printed product (), before it exits the clamping gap (), thus preventing a free fall of the printed products () onto the support () when the trailing fold-edge () exits the clamping gap (). The gripper elements () grip and guide the printed products towards the support (). If a plurality of supports () is provided, and these are conveyed continuously and in succession past, below the stationary clamping gap (), the fold-edges () of the printed products () are moved by the gripper elements () to track the supports ().

Method and device for supplying, opening and depositing folded printed products

A conveyor system conveys a plurality of printed products along a path of travel in an imbricated stream and such that a border region of each printed product is exposed by the imbricated overlap. A contrast panel ( ), which forms a text panel ( ), is applied to the exposed border region of each printed product ( ). The contrast panel is provided with the text ( ) and the contrast panel forms a contrast with respect to the text ( ), with the result that the latter can be immediately seen and read easily. In one embodiment, the contrast panel is applied by printing, and in another embodiment, the contrast panel comprises a separate label which is adhesively applied.

Method and apparatus for providing text on printed products

For splitting-up a supply stream ( ) of piece goods into a plurality of conveying away streams, the supplied objects ( ) are guided onto a plurality of conveying away paths ( ) in a predetermined splitting-up sequence. The device includes a supply device for serially supplying objects ( ) to a split-up point ( ) and for positioning the objects ( ) for being taken over by holding device ( ) in the split-up point ( ). The device also has a plurality of conveying away systems, each one of which defines one of the conveying away paths. Of the conveying away systems advantageously each one has a closed-loop rail track ( ) and holding devices ( ) movable along the rail track independently of one another and with variable distances between one another. The rail tracks ( ) of the conveying away systems converge toward the split-up point ( ), run through the split-up point ( ) parallel to one another, and diverge after the split-up point ( ). The conveying away systems also have buffers that retain the holding devices upstream of the split-up point ( ) and devices for releasing the holding devices from the buffers ( ) in a controlled manner. The conveying away systems also have devices for conveying the holding devices ( ) through the split-up point ( ) in a controlled manner and for activating the holding devices in the split-up point. A serial stream of holding devices through the split-up point ( ) is produced by controlled release of holding devices ( ) from the buffers ( ) so that holding devices belonging to different conveying away systems are arranged in a sequence corresponding to the splitting-up sequence for the objects ( ).

Method and device for splitting-up a stream of piece goods

The uppermost printed product is lifted from an intermediate stack, that was loaded from below, by a suction arrangement. The lifted product is fed into the active range of a pushing arrangement that is driven in synchronism with the suction arrangement. The pushing arrangement has stops which are arranged one behind another at a distance and circulate along a closed peripheral path and function to push the printed products released by the suction arrangement, one after another, by acting on the trailing edge of the printed products. The printed products are conveyed from the intermediate stack into the effective range of a conveying apparatus.

Device for feeding printed product to a further processing point

A rotatably mounted support arrangement comprises two receiving claws having substantially V-shaped grooves. Diametrically opposite these receiving claws there are provided two clamping claws which also comprise substantially V-shaped grooves. A winding core comprises on the inner side thereof an annular rim or rib having a substantially V-shaped configuration. This annular rim or rib is supported in the grooves of the receiving claws and is pressed against the latter by means of the clamping claws. For releasably clamping the winding core, the clamping claws can be brought from an idle or ineffectual position, in which the clamping claws do not bear against the winding core, into an operative or effectual position in which the clamping claws clamp or fixedly hold the winding core together with the receiving claws. The winding core with the product core or wound package thereof is clamped at the supporting arrangement and rotatably supported conjointly with the latter.

A plurality of entrainment members can be individually summoned or called for by a release or summoning mechanism and can be individually and successively coupled at a substantially uniform spacing with respect to one another by a shuttle or transfer wheel with an endless revolving driven traction element. In order to reduce the technical constructional expenditure and the noise emission during operation of the clock conveyor there are provided magnetic devices for coupling the entrainment members in force-locking or frictional manner with the endless revolving driven traction element.

The package support device comprises a hollow cylindrical rotatable winding core member possessing a substantially cylindrical support surface for the wound-up printed products. At the winding core member there is formed a ring-shaped groove extending in the circumferential direction of the winding core member and open towards the outside. Accommodated within such ring-shaped groove is a winding band wound upon the winding core member. The ring-shaped groove can be covered by a cover member supported at the winding core member. This cover member rotates with the winding core member and is displaceable in the direction of the lengthwise axis of such winding core member in order to expose the ring-shaped groove. The cover member can also be constructed to be rotatable in relation to the winding core. A throughpass opening for the winding band is formed in the cover member.

Package support device for the intermediate storage of wound-up printed

An endless chain is guided in each one of two adjacently extending guide channels, for entraining articles or objects to be conveyed, such as newspapers delivered in an imbricated formation. A guide channel section is displaceably arranged transversely to a receiving station in order that the articles or objects can be conducted to the receiving station not only from one supply station but also from a further supply station as well. The displacement of the guide channel section is executed in a region between two transition sections which extend in the same direction relative to each other. In such arrangement, displacement of the guide channel section can be effected without altering the length of the guide channel.
