For the continuous drive of a hook of a sewing machine, two drive cams () alternately engage in the back of the hook. During the passing of the upper thread loop, the respective drive cam () on which the thread would get hung up is out of engagement. The hook is situated in a conical hook race guide and is held therein by magnets.

A device () with a wire holder () for securing the upper thread loop () after the threading of the upper thread () through the eye () of a sewing machine needle () is provided. The wire holder deflects a progression of the two thread legs of the thread loop () upwards and thus securely holds the upper thread () in a hook chamfer at the hook ().

A hook () of a sewing machine () is pivotably mounted on a hook carrier (). The hook () is moved from a working position (X) into a bobbin case withdrawal position by a pivoting movement of the hook carrier (). The pivoting movement displaces the hook () and the bobbin case () towards or above the opening which is opened by the flap () in the lower arm (). In this way, the withdrawal of the bobbin case () or the bobbin is significantly simplified.

Sewing or embroidery machine

The implant may be used as prosthetic replacement for a ligament and/or tendon. The implant has a plurality of discrete longitudinal strands disposed in side-by-side relation with transverse filaments about the strands. Individual sub-zones of the ligament are folded over in a transverse manner about a longitudinal axis of the sub-zone with intermediate zones being in an unfolded state. The intermediate zones may be formed solely of longitudinal strands to enhance flexibility.

Implant for a prosthetic ligament and/or tendon replacement

A prosthetic ligament implant is sheathed at one end in the sock in order to facilitate pulling of the implant through a hole drilled in a bone. The sock is provided with a separable proximal portion which does not envelope the implant and which can be cut off after pulling of the implant through the hole in the bone. With removal of the proximal portion, the remaining textile structure of the sock becomes asunder so that the sock can be readily pulled off from the end of the implant.

Implant for replacing a ligament or tendon

A hip joint prosthesis in the form of a femur head prosthesis or acetabulum has a mesh secured over at least part of the implant surface to define a cavity between the mesh and the supporting member of the prosthesis. The mesh is made of elastically deformable material to permit inward deformation during implantation. In addition, bone cement can be injected into the cavities so that the mesh then follows the individual shape of the cavity in the bone to mesh into the internal structure of the bone with hardened bone cement.

The pull-through appliance is made of a mesh structure formed of at least one continuous thread and a pullout thread disposed at one end of the mesh structure to prevent unraveling of the mesh structure. A hollow tube is used to facilitate drawing in of the synthetic strand and autologous strand of the prosthesis. After removal of the hollow member, the resulting package can be readily threaded through a bore in a bone. After implantation, the pull-out thread is removed and the mesh structure unraveled so as to remove the mesh structure from within the bone.
