A user terminal may include an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, client to enable the terminal to communicate with an IMS network. The IMS client may include a conference creation and control unit configured to create and control an IMS conference involving one or more participants, participants being identified within a conference INVITE or REFER message by respective Uniform Resource Identifiers, URIs, within a URI list. The conference creation and control unit may include a response handling unit configured to receive from the IMS network, in response to the sending of an INVITE or REFER, a SIP response message including an XML body specifying an Outgoing Communication Barring, OCB, service invocation result and configured to present the specified result to a terminal user. A method and an apparatus for routing traffic in a circuit-switched network, comprising offering a call between between an origin node and a destination node to a preferred route between said nodes, and if said preferred route is not available, offering an alternative route via an intermediate node, and for links between two nodes, setting a first trunk reservation threshold for reserving a certain number of circuits for direct calls along said links between said two nodes, and setting a second trunk reservation threshold for calls between nodes connecting a second link of said alternative route.

Method and apparatus for routing traffic in a circuit-switched network

A method and system are disclosed for more effectively restoring cells in a radio communications network taking into account current traffic conditions. The disclosed method can be implemented in a number of ways. For example, if a network operator desires to prioritize recovery on a cell-by-cell basis, the order of prioritization can be overlaid on the present method (e.g., for all &ldquo;priority 1&rdquo; cells, the present method will be used to select a cell recovery order). Alternatively, the present method can be overlaid on an operator's order of prioritization (e.g., for all cells that are classified most urgent according to the present method, the operator's priorities will be used to select the cell recovery order). As another example, if a hierarchical cell structure is used, the underlaid cells can be selected for recovery during the initial recovery operation (e.g., for a speedier recovery). Also, a recovery order sequence can be used to select certain cells from within the group of underlaid cells. The radio network's recovery is thus optimized by taking into account the actual traffic requirements in the network, node and/or cells involved.

Transmission quality of an ongoing call in a mobile radiotelephone system is monitored by measuring parameters indicative of transmission quality, evaluating transmission quality according to the measured parameters, repeatedly measuring the aforementioned parameters at intervals, and repeatedly evaluating transmission quality according to the measured parameters at a time interval variable according to the results of the previous evaluation. Effectively, the calls in progress are divided into different classes according to transmission quality with some classes requiring monitoring relatively frequently and other classes requiring monitoring relatively infrequently. Alternatively, the waiting interval according to which a call is monitored may be determined on an individual cell-by-cell basis.

Adaptive resource allocation in a mobile telephone system

The present invention relates to a method of regulating or adjusting the transmission power when transmitting signals between a mobile station and a base station in a digital mobile telephony system. The output power is regulated to maintain the transmission power at an optimum level to prevent unnecessary disturbance of neighboring channels transmitting information on the same frequency and to insure that the transmitted information is interpreted properly in the receiver. The measured values of signal strength and signal-transmission quality are collected, and their mean values are calculated. An anticipated value of signal strength and transmission quality is then calculated at a next time-point provided that the transmission power is maintained unchanged in relation to the transmission power at the present or instant time period (t.sub.0). The transmission power at the next time period (t.sub.1) is regulated on the basis of these anticipated signal strength and quality values. The transmission power is increased when the anticipated transmission quality is less than that desired and is decreased when the anticipated quality is higher than the highest permitted quality or when the anticipated signal strength is greater than the maximum permitted value. Otherwise, the transmission power is maintained unchanged.

Method for regulating power in a digital mobile telephony system

A coaxial high repetition rate pulsed gas laser is provided, having a peak value pulse to pulse reproducibility better than 1% at a repetition rate of up to 400 Hz. This is accomplished by synchronizing the time evolution of the high tension laser electrode voltage with the gas break-down delay period in such a way that the laser output and stability are optimized.
