The invention relates to a coupling unit for optically coupling a multi-channel optical plug-in element to at least one opto-electronic converter of a multi-channel transmitter and/or receiver unit and to a method for inserting optical wave guides into said optical coupling unit. The coupling unit comprises a first coupling side for optical coupling to the multi-channel optical plug-in element, a second coupling side for optical coupling to the at least one opto-electronic converter and a plurality of receiving openings for optical wave guides; said openings being arranged on a plane, extending from the first coupling side to the second coupling side. According to the invention, the coupling unit is embodied in a single piece and the receiving openings extend at least partially inside the coupling unit. The optical wave guides are inserted into the single-piece coupling unit with the aid of an optical plug-in element. The receiving openings of the optical plug-in element are flush with the receiving elements of the coupling unit.

Optical coupling unit and method for inserting optical wave guides into an optical coupling unit

The invention relates to a holding device for holding at least one optical plug that can be coupled with a coupling partner in an optical coupling system. According to the invention, the holding device comprises an inner holding part ( ) into which the plug ( ) can be locked and an outer holding part ( ) in which the inner holding part ( ) is arranged so as to be rotatable and laterally displaceable. The holding device enables a coupling of an optical plug with a coupling partner even for the case in which the coupling partner is situated with an imprecise position.

Holding device for holding at least one optical plug

A method for producing a holding configuration for at least one sheathed optical fiber conductor, which includes forming a holding body with a through-channel having a first channel section expanded over an expansion region into a second channel section opening into an outlet opening having a rounded rim. The method further includes applying a fixing compound from the outlet opening into the expansion region for fixing a section of an optical fiber conductor introduced into the first channel section, dimensioning a width of the first channel section for exerting capillary forces on the fixing compound contributing to filling a gap between the optical fiber conductor and the first channel section, and dimensioning a width of the second channel section for maintaining the fixing compound in the second channel section free of capillary forces, and metering the fixing compound for permitting the optical fiber conductor to emerge through the outlet opening with radial freedom of movement and free of fixing compound.

Method for producing a holding configuration for at least one sheathed optical fiber conductor

A coupling system includes an optical plug-in connector, a coupling partner and a retaining element. The housing of the plug-in connector is provided with a sliding key and with two springy detent limbs which include a detent nose for engaging with the coupling partner. In order to receive the plug-in connector, the coupling partner is provided with a plug inlet which has recesses that correspond to the detent noses of the plug-in connector. A retaining element includes a laterally displaceable outer housing and an inner housing that is pivotally arranged therein. A locking element is provided as a two-limb lever that is arranged on the inner housing and that serves to lock the plug-in connector in the retaining element. When inserting the plug inlet, this locking is released once the plug-in connector and plug inlet are engaged with one another.

Multichannel optical coupling configuration

A prefabricated plug-in assembly includes a front subframe and a plug pin arranged in it. The assembly further has a holder for an optical conductor end. Light-curable adhesive is introduced into the holder in advance and, once the optical conductor end has been introduced, is cured by supplying light. To this end, the plug-in assembly is sufficiently transparent and translucent for the light wavelength of the light used for curing.

The fiber-optic cable is provided with a cable jacket from which at least one optical fiber and ends of a strength member emerge. To achieve reliable mechanical fixation of the strength member to a housing the strength member is bent back over an annular bend former onto the cable jacket. The ends are secured to the cable jacket rearwardly of the bend former by a retainer.

The connector system includes a coupling bush in each of whose openings on both sides a multiway connector, each with a connector housing, can be inserted. A plurality of individual plug connectors having alignment elements are mounted in a floating manner in each connector housing. Alignment aids on the connector housings lead during the mating process and directly align the connector housings with respect to one another before the alignment elements of the individual plug connectors start to cooperate, with mutual fine alignment. The two housings have the same alignment aids which are disposed such that, when one of said multiway connectors is rotated through 180&deg; about its longitudinal axis with respect to the other one, the alignment aids are aligned to cooperate with one another and to allow the two connectors to mate.

Optical connector system

The holder receives at least one plug connector housing formed with individual housing rest arms. The rest arms are formed with locking elements. The holder has action areas acting on the rest arms. If a suitable force is exerted on rear activation areas of the holder, the action areas act on the rest arms and move the locking elements into an unlocked position.

Connector holder

An optical connector serves for connecting a light wave conductor end to a coupling partner. An end of a freely disposed plug pin insertable into a receiver of the coupling partner is received for coupling. The connector has at least two catch arms, which hold the connector to the coupling partner in a connected state. The catch arms extend out from a foot end of the plug pin in a direction toward a front side of the plug pin and run at least in sections along the plug pin. An optical connection is also provided.

A holding configuration and a method for producing a holding configuration for at least one sheathed optical fiber conductor include a holding body having a through-channel with first and second sections and an outlet opening. The optical fiber conductor is fixed in a fixing compound in the first section and emerges from the holding body through the outlet opening with radial freedom of movement and free of fixing compound. The through-channel expands from the first section to the second section having a cross section which is dimensioned in such a way that fixing compound in the second section remains essentially free of capillary force. A rim of the outlet opening which comes into contact with the optical fiber conductor is rounded.

An end piece for a fiber-optic cable, with a sheath and strength members. An insert of the end piece has a rear hollow cylindrical attachment. The attachment has a rear end section with an outer swelling and a section nearer the front, which is free from the sheath. An end of the sheath is pushed onto the end section over the swelling. The section towards the front is covered by the strength member, which project from the sheath end. A common sleeve,is applied to the attachment in such a way that it fixes both the end of the sheath on the end section and the strength members on the section towards the front.

A holder includes two receptacles, each for receiving an optical connector housing. At least one optical connector housing is mounted in its receptacle along the longitudinal axis of the receptacle with radial play in a direction transverse to the insertion direction. To facilitate handling and to prevent rattling of the optical connector housing, at least one flexible element acts on the optical connector housing that is mounted with play and brings the connector housing into a defined rest position.

Optical connector housing holder

A base housing receives a plurality of optical plug connectors. Each of the connectors is prestressed in the axial insertion direction with a respective spring. A supplementary housing part is connectible to the base housing in a predetermined connecting position. The supplementary housing part is formed with support faces. The supplementary housing part is movable relative to the base housing in the insertion direction in such a way into the connecting position that the support faces carry the rear spring ends along with them and in the process prestress the springs.

Optical multi-connector

The fiber optical plug connector has a pin, a helical spring bearing against the pin with a rearward axial force and a one-piece housing with a closed front segment and a through opening. A side wall opening behind the front segment allows the pin fitted with the helical spring to be inserted. Holding elements secure the pin and/or the helical spring from being displaced radially outward after the plug and the spring have been snapped into radial alignment.

Fiber optic plug connector

The connector includes a plug pin, a forward housing part relative to the plug-in direction, and a rear housing part. The plug pin is axially displaceable in the forward housing part against the force of a helical spring. The forward housing part has internal retainers which secure the helical spring against slipping out backwardly before the two housing parts are connected to one another.
