A method of installing a cable or conduit into at least one plastic pipe of a fluid carrying pipeline system, comprises attaching a first saddle fitting at a first location on said plastic pipe by electro-fusion, opening the pipe at the first location, introducing the cable or a pull body through the saddle fitting into the pipe towards a second location or retrieving at least part of the cable or a pull body introduced at a second location, and pulling the cable directly or by means of the pull body through the pipe. This allows installation of a cable without turning off the fluid supply.

Method of fitting a cable into a pipe

For the purpose of repairing supply lines such as a waste-water pipe, a plastic hose has been developed which, in the clear state, has a diameter which is the same size as, or larger than, the diameter of the pipe in which it is to be inserted. This plastic hose is used to fix optical or electric cables against the inner wall of the pipe. For this purpose, the plastic hose is introduced into the waste-water pipe in a collapsed state, together with the cable, and is released when the desired positioning has been reached. The collapsed plastic hose will then regain its original shape and thereby fix the cable against the inner wall of the waste-water pipe.

A cable for laying in plastic tubes for transporting gas or water is described that comprises a cable core assembly and a plastic sheath surrounding the cable core assembly, in which cable the plastic used for the plastic tube and the plastic for the sheath can be welded together.

For the purpose of fastening cables to the inner wall of a non-accessible waste-water pipe, an internal liner has been developed, which is constructed from at least two layers, the first layer, which rests against the internal wall of the pipe when in the laid condition, having a profile or empty spaces for receiving cables, and a second layer, of envelope-like type, which carries the first layer.

In a method of laying a cable, or a pipe for the subsequent introduction of a cable, in a fresh-water conduit, the surface of the cable or pipe is cleaned during the laying process immediately before entering the fresh-water conduit.

A coaxial connector (1) is adapted for use with a coaxial high frequency cable having an external conductor which concentrically surrounds and is spaced from a tube-shaped internal conductor with at least one optical wave guiding element therein. The coaxial connector has an internal contact part (5), which can be electrically connected with the internal conductor of the high frequency cable, and is positioned concentric with a longitudinal axis of the connector. A plug-in element (15), which is electrically connected to the internal contact part (5), is angled with respect to the longitudinal axis of the connector. The plug-in element (15) is surrounded by a ferrule terminal (21), with a space between them, which can be electrically connected to the external conductor of the high frequency cable. The at least one optical wave guiding element, which is located inside the tube-shaped internal conductor of the high frequency cable, can exit in a simple manner from the coaxial connector (1) through a concentric passage hole (9) in the internal contact part (5).

A device for coating an optical fiber, for example a glass fiber drawn from a glass preform, comprises a housing (3) with a lengthwise bore (11), into which a nozzle holder (13) containing a receiving aperture (25) is press-fit. An inlet nozzle (33) and an outlet nozzle (43), through which the optical fiber (1) can pass, are press-fit into the receiving hole (25) of nozzle holder (13) at a distance from each other. A coating space for applying a coating material to the optical fiber (1) is located between the inlet nozzle (33) and the outlet nozzle (43). The press-fitting of the nozzles (33, 43) into the nozzle holder (13), and press-fitting the nozzle holder (13) into the housing, achieves better reproducibility of the nozzle (33, 43) positioning when the device is being assembled.

Device for coating an optical fiber

A method for manufacturing an optical fiber (11), wherein the fiber (11) is drawn from one end of a preform (9) which is heated to above the glass softening temperature. The preform (9) is surronded by a protective gas (14) whose flow direction corresponds to the fiber drawing direction. The flow of the gas surrounding the preform (9) in the drawing area (10) is stabilized by an additional flushing gas (16).
