Disclosed is a weaving method with which the yarn tension of several part groups with at least one warp thread per part group is controlled or adjusted separately, in order to follow a respective reference yarn tension profile during weaving, where, for at least one part group, the reference yarn tension profile is changed during weaving, where the reference yarn tension profile is determined and changed separately for at least two part groups, and where each reference yarn tension profile is selected from a collection of different reference yarn tension profiles. Also disclosed is a weaving machine provided with yarn tensioning elements, a storage unit in which said collection is provided, and a control or steering unit in order, in cooperation with the yarn tensioning elements, to adjust or control the yarn tension in separate warp threads using the indicated weaving method.

Disclosed is a yarn tensioning system for keeping at least one yarn, which is taken from a yarn storage system to a yarn take-off system of a weaving machine, under tension. The system includes a brake roller around which the yarn is at least partially wound, and a motor for supplying a torque to the brake roller, the motor being actuable in generator operation to keep the yarn under tension between the brake roller and the yarn take-off system. Also disclosed is a weaving machine including such a yarn tensioning system, as well as a method for keeping at least one yarn under tension, the at least one yarn being taken from a yarn storage system to a yarn take-off system.

For positioning pile yarns in variable selection positions in a carpet weaving machine of the gripper Axminster type, in which pile yarns (1-8) of different colors are placed next to each other in a line in pile yarn loaders (10), each pile yarn loader (10) is brought directly from a selection position to a following selection position. In a double-gripper weaving machine, intended for weaving plain velvet and carpets, a pile feeder and a combined pile warp beam let-off motion are equipped with a computer in order to calculate the necessary pile warp feed of each operating cycle of the weaving machine and use said calculation as a reference value, both functions pile feeder and pile warp beam let-off motion, being performed directly. The pile warp beam let-off motion has a regulating system consisting of a multi-axis control system provided for one or more pile warp beams.
