Disclosed are polyestercarbonate copolymers comprising a carbonate unit of Formula (I), an ITR ester unit of Formula (V), and optionally a different carbonate unit of Formula (VI): wherein R, R, p, q, A, h, j, k, R, r, and Rare as described herein. The polyestercarbonate copolymers have a combination of scratch resistance, good flow, and good weatherability.

Disclosed herein is are thermoplastic compositions comprising a blend of a homopolycarbonate comprising units derived from an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a copolymer comprising isosorbide units and siloxane units. The copolymer comprising isosorbide units and siloxane units can further comprise non-isosorbide aliphatic units derived from a Caliphatic diacid, a Caliphatic diol or combination of these, aromatic units, aliphatic units derived from an oligomer having a weight average molecular weight of 900 to 4000 or a combination of some or all of the foregoing additional units.

Provided herein are polymeric compositions that are suitable protected from UV-induced discoloration and degradation. Such resins comprise an isosorbide polymer and one or more hindered amines. These resin compositions are useful in the manufacture of various shaped, formed and/or molded articles.

Disclosed herein is a polycarbonate polymer comprising: an isosorbide unit, a polysiloxane unit, and an aliphatic unit different from the isosorbide unit, wherein the isosorbide unit, polysiloxane unit, and aliphatic unit are each carbonate, or a combination of carbonate and ester units, the aliphatic unit different from the isosorbide unit is derived from an aliphatic oligomer having a molecular weight of 900 to 4000, and the calculated bio-content is greater than or equal to 40 weight percent, based on the total weight of the polycarbonate polymer.

Isosorbide-based polycarbonates, method of making, and articles formed therefrom

An isosorbide-containing polycarbonate composition is provided. The composition contains a polycarbonate having repeat units derived from isosorbide, a polycarbonate-property-modifying additive, and a pH stabilizer. When a solution containing 10 wt. % of the composition dissolved in dichloromethane is prepared the solution has a non-aqueous pH in a range of equal to or between 0.8 below and 0.5 above the pH of the dichloromethane.
