An inline high-recovery flow control valve comprising a tubular housing internally separated into a cylindrical and a contoured diameter section and where the contured portion being subdivided by a reduced diameter bore, a contoured valve plug suitably fastened to a sliding ring which conforms to the cylindrical diameter of the housing, and mechanical means to motivate the ring with attached valve plug to and from the reduced circular bore.

Inline high-recovery flow control valve

A cone type control valve comprising a cone shaped valve plug movably retained in an similarly shaped opening of a valve housing having horizontal inlet and outlet ports and wherein any reciprocal movements of the conical plug can control fluid flow from the inlet to the outlet port. The cone shaped opening furthermore has cavities located perpendicular to the ports, capable to accelerate and de-celerate fluid passing between the two ports.

A canted, single vane three-way butterfly valve having a T-shaped housing having an inlet and one outlet port, a third port straddling said inlet and outlet ports, a single vane interspaced between the inlet and outlet ports supported by a central shaft, capable to selectively blocking fluid flow emanating from either inlet or outlet ports from entering said third port when the plenary axis of said vane is tilted forty five degrees from the central axis of either inlet or outlet ports.

Canted, single vane, three-way butterfly valve

A differential pressure sealing device for use with ball valves that utilizes the pressure of the fluid being communicated in a piping system to increase the sealing force created by the sealing device. Fluid being communicated through a ball valve is provided to a sealing device that includes some type of element for creating a bias force. The pressure of the fluid being communicated increases the sealing pressure created by the sealing device. In this manner, the bias force created in the sealing device benefits from the pressure of the fluid being communicated to enhance the sealing when used with a ball valve or similar component.

Differential pressure sealing device for ball valves

A variable resistance device, suitable for pressure reduction in fluid control systems, comprising a housing with a pair of perforated tubes motivated to slide against each other in order to vary the amount of flow area exposed in such perforations, and wherein a cam and lever system causes sliding motion of one of the tubes.

The invention relates to vanes used in butterfly valves utilized in fluid control systems requiring special relationships between passing fluid and vane rotation and furthermore can provide leak proof shut-off when in the closed valve position and due to the extended contact length between the vane and the valve bore assures low opening friction. The invention furthermore features a shape that greatly reduces the customary high dynamic torque created by fluid suction effects on a vane when in the open position.

The invention describes a leak proof shaft seal for valves and other pressurized vessels, wherein the shaft seal can deform elastically by either stretching or twisting without loosing its ability to seal all, or a portion, of said shaft from harmful fluids. Furthermore, the elastic shaft seal is immune to static pressures, since it closely surrounds a shaft and thus is protected from collapse.

Tubular shaft seal

A balance-plug cage style control valve has substantially reduced body-bonnet bolt loading with an elastic seal. The elastic seal assembly includes an annular seal having an elastic region, a compression surface, and at least one sealing surface positioned in a channel within a valve cage mounted inside the valve body. At least one shoulder on the valve bonnet engages the elastic seal to deform the elastic region to place the sealing surface of the seal in contact with at least one of the valve bonnet or the valve cage to form a fluid seal.

The device described herein is a valve suitable for the control or shut-off of fluid flow in a piping system. It comprises a valve housing having inlet and outlet ports and a cylindrical bore whose axis is slanted at about 90 degrees in relation to the axis connecting said inlet port. A ball or closure member being slidingly arranged within said cylindrical bore and being capable of making tight contact with a fixed or flexible seating surface and wherein said cylindrical bore has one or more radially outwardly protruding flutes or grooves providing a fluid path around said ball or closure member. Additional means to allow for the ball or closure member to connect to a conventional actuating device having linear output motion.

Fluted reciprocating ball valve

The device described herein is a valve suitable for the control or shut-off of fluid flow in a piping system. It comprises a valve housing having inlet and outlet ports and a cylindrical bore whose axis is slanted at about 45 degrees in relation to the axis connecting said inlet and outlet ports. A ball or closure member being slindingly arranged within said slanted bore and being capable of making tight contact with a flexible and suitably retained metal seal interspaced between said inlet and outlet ports. Additional means allow for the ball or closure member to connect to a conventional actuating device having linear output motion.

Reciprocating ball valve

A control valve that reduces noise and controls flow includes a slotted cylindrical skirt and/or a tapered metal ring. The metal ring has a tapered external surface for engaging a matching tapered bore within a valve housing. One embodiment is directed to a control valve including a housing defining a central orifice in fluid in communication with an inlet port and an outlet port, and a movable valve plug assembly having a skirt portion slidably engaged within the central orifice to control fluid flowing through the housing. The skirt portion defines a plurality of openings, which can be slots, to gradually control the flow of fluid through the housing while reducing cavitation. A method of controlling fluid flow in a process includes receiving fluids via an inlet port of a control valve, and controlling the flow of the fluid via a movable skirted valve plug with a plurality of tapered slots.

Control valve with low noise and enhanced flow characteristics

A balanced plug valve having substantially reduced shut-off force requirements due to an integral dual seating arrangement of the valve plug within a valve housing having slanted inlet and outlet ports and wherein the inlet port forms an elliptical opening for fluid control which is selectively exposed by a cylindrical portion of a sliding valve plug.

A valve having improved inherent flow characteristics and improved dynamic torque characteristics is provided. The valve includes a disk for controlling fluid flow inside the valve. The disk has at least a sealing surface for sealing with a valve seal when the disk is in a closed position. The sealing surface includes a contour and creates a flow clearance with the valve seal as the disk pivots from a closed position toward an open position. A radius of curvature of the contour defines a size of the flow clearance at predetermined disk positions to characterize flow through the valve. The valve can further include an upstream indentation for dynamic torque reduction and/or an indentation for dynamic torque reduction in case of a fluid flow reversal.
