A parking brake apparatus is provided for a vehicle including a vehicle drive train that extends between a vehicle propulsion engine and a vehicle wheel. The parking brake apparatus comprises a wheel drum located away from the vehicle wheel and fixedly attached to a drivetrain shaft that extends along a portion of the vehicle drive train between the vehicle propulsion engine and the vehicle wheel. The parking brake apparatus also comprises activatable drum brake components disposed in an interior chamber of the wheel drum. When activated, the drum brake components apply a clamping force to the wheel drum to prevent the wheel drum and the drivetrain shaft fixedly attached thereto from rotating and thereby preventing the vehicle wheel from rotating to provide the vehicle with a parking brake functionality.

A brake disk for road vehicles has a brake caliper engaging about a brake disk of a vehicle wheel to be braked. A clamping unit upon which an actuation cylinder can act is provided on one side of the brake disk and which itself acts against at least one pressure member. In order to withstand the braking forces in a manner free from sealing problems, the caliper is constructed in one part such that the clamping unit is mounted in a section of the caliper which is substantially closed on all sides. When the caliper is moved away from the brake disk, the clamping unit can be introduced, in the form of a preassembled unit into the caliper through the opening therein facing the brake disk. When the clamping unit has been introduced, the opening in the brake caliper facing the brake disk is closed by a closure plate penetrated by the pressure member of the clamping unit.

The invention relates to a wear adjustment device for a brake, especially a motor vehicle brake. The device comprises an adjusting shaft, which is mounted in a housing and is accessible from the outside at a front end. Said adjusting shaft is equipped with a head part in the accessible area, this head part enabling the transmission of a torque. The head part is configured as a separate structural part and can be coupled to the adjusting shaft in such a way that it is resistant to torsion in the axial direction of the adjusting shaft and in relation to said adjusting shaft. The head part is also provided with a predetermined breaking point which enables separation to take place when a maximum permissible torque is exceeded. This constructionally simple configuration reliably prevents the adjusting shaft from being overburdened and therefore prevents any damage to the wear adjustment device or essential parts of the break that this could otherwise cause. In the event that the head part is destroyed, the destroyed head part can be replaced by a new head part without impairing the brake as a whole.

The invention concerns a device and a method for monitoring an electromechanical brake-applying device designed for motor vehicle brakes. Said electromechanical brake-applying device comprises the following elements: a control member comprising an electric motor provided with electric supply; preferably a cylinder with accumulator including a spring which can be tensioned by the control member and serving to actuate a plunger to apply and release the vehicle brake. The monitoring device has a detecting unit for establishing an intensity and/or voltage curve of the current flowing in the electric supply whereof the output is connected to an evaluating unit for comparing the value of said intensity and/or voltage curve with previously stored threshold values and/or previously stored threshold value characteristic.

The invention relates to a compressed air-operated disk brake comprising a brake caliper to which a compressed air cylinder can be attached via a flange and in which a turning lever can be pivoted by a plunger rod of the compressed-air cylinder. The inventive disk brake should be designed in such a way that the interior of the brake caliper is protected from the penetration of dirt and moisture when the compressed air cylinder has not yet been attached, in particular, during transport and storage. In addition, no additional working operations should be required for mounting the brake cylinder, and no parts need to be disposed of. According to the invention, a cover, which is closed at first, is placed in the flange opening of the brake caliper and is provided with specified rupture locations. Since the cover does not project beyond the outer surface of the flange, it does not impede the subsequent attachment of the compressed air cylinder. After mounting the compressed air cylinder, the cover is torn open along the weakened lines or the specified rupture locations by Extending the plunger rod.

The invention relates to a brake disk comprising two friction rings which are connected via links and between which an air channel is configured, as well as support elements which are molded to the inner peripheral area of the brake disk and designed for engaging cams of a hub of an axle of a (utility) vehicle. For example, the control module may be formed directly on the brake cylinder housing section which encloses the ventilation chamber.
