One embodiment includes a method for creating a multimedia project at a swarm interface device. The method includes steps for providing a first set of multimedia content to a swarm includes several swarm members, where the several swarm members includes several swarm sources. The method further includes steps for receiving a second set of multimedia content from the several swarm sources and editing multimedia content to create a multimedia project includes at least one piece of multimedia content from the first set of multimedia content and at least one piece of multimedia content from the second set of multimedia content.

Systems and methods for binding content to pairing of a playback device and removable memory storage device are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for requesting authorization to play content using a playback device and a removable memory storage device includes retrieving a coupon identifier from a removable memory storage device while it is attached to the playback device, generating a coupon code using the coupon identifier, sending a request for storefront token that includes a device match data token and an application identifier, receiving a storefront token associated with a storefront identifier where the storefront identifier identifies a storefront application, sending a request for ticket token that includes the coupon code, the storefront identifier, and a content identifier that identifies the content, sending a request for license file that includes the ticket token, and receiving a license file that grants playback rights to the piece of content.

Systems and methods for binding content playback to the pairing of a playback device and removable memory storage device

A method and apparatus for measuring and/or correcting audio/visual synchronization is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for providing synchronization of a video signal and a corresponding audio signal associated with the audio/visual transmission includes detecting a triggering video event in the video signal and inserting a synchronization signal into the audio signal, where the synchronization signal is correlated to the triggering video event. In another embodiment, a method for measuring and optionally correcting the synchronization of the video signal and the audio signal includes detecting the triggering video event in the video signal, detecting the synchronization signal in the audio signal, and assessing the synchronization of the video signal and the audio signal in accordance with a time offset between the triggering video event and the synchronization signal. Implemented in conjunction, these two embodiments provide a method and apparatus for both measuring and correcting the end-to-end synchronization of an audio-video system.

Method and apparatus for measuring and/or correcting audio/visual synchronization

A data structure, such as a digital television signal, includes (a) a video stream representing a picture and (b) auxiliary information, such as a closed caption stream. In one embodiment, the picture has special content that is not visible when a decoder correctly processes the auxiliary information. When an error occurs in the decoder processing, the special content becomes visible, thereby indicating the existence of the error to an observer of the rendered picture. In another embodiment, the video stream represents a sequence of time-varying pictures that provides a temporal reference for characterizing the relative timing of the decoder's processing of the auxiliary information.

Video streams for closed caption testing and the like

An apparatus and concomitant method for creating and applying an encoded bitstream to evaluate the performance of a black box video decoder. The encoded bitstreams are designed such that the results from the DUT can be evaluated without the need of a human observer. The method applies the encoded bitstream to both a DUT and a compliant reference decoder and compares the results from both decoders to determine compliance of the DUT. Additional embodiments address postprocessing and the selection of a subset of test frames for evaluation.
