In a reel change in the reeling process of a fiber material web, the fiber material web (W) running to a reel that is becoming full is changed to run around a new reeling core () brought to a reel change position in such a way that the web is made to adhere onto the surface of the new reeling core (). The web (W) is made to adhere onto the surface of the reeling core () by a change in the properties of the material on the surface of the reeling core (). The material is a combination of an adhesive area () on the surface of the reeling core and a protective layer () on top of the adhesive area, and the properties of the material are changed by removing the protective layer ().

Equipment for leading a web threading tail in a paper machine has at least two sequential surfaces () in the direction of travel of the web threading tail (), between which a nozzle () is arranged to form a directed air blast and thus to transport the web threading tail (). The equipment has an element () in which an exhaust zone () is arranged in the surface () before the nozzle () in the direction of travel of the web threading tail (), for leading air away from the element () between the web threading tail () and the surface ().

A web is threaded in the reeling of a paper or board web, by passing a web tail strip (W) into a reeling nip between a reeling drum () and a reel spool (), on which a web roll is formed. The tail strip (W) is passed into the reeling nip by a suction zone () which extends substantially around the entire reeling drum circumference and is () in an area where a full-width web runs during reeling, so that the tail strip (w) can be conducted directly along the suction zone (). The suction zone () is placed in the longitudinal direction of the reeling drum (), i.e. in the width direction of the web.
