The invention concerns the use of compounds of general formula (I): (I) wherein: Rand Rform together a double bond, or Rand Rform together a cyclopropyl group; R, Rare the same or different and independently chosen from hydrogen, methyl, or Rand Rform together a double bond; R, R6 are the same or different and independently chosen from hydrogen, methyl; or Rand Rform together a double bond, or Rand Rform together a cyclopropyl group; R=methyl, or ethyl; R=hydrogen, or methyl, for promoting hair growth and/or inhibiting or delaying hair loss in the human scalp, and cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions suitable for such use.

A medicament for accelerated wound healing is proposed containing derivatives of the formula (I), in which Rstands for hydrogen or methyl.

Norlimbanol in general and particularly its isomer mixture Timberol&#xae;, an amber-woody fragrance, is able to specifically inhibit the trimethylamine-induced h TAAR5 activation up to 96%. Moreover, human psychophysical data showed that the presence of Timberol&#xae; increases the olfactory detection threshold for the characteristic fishy odor of trimethylamine by almost one order of magnitude.

Proposed is a method for evaluating the scent performance of perfumes or perfume mixtures, wherein at least one odorants is brought into contact with an olfactory receptor selected from the group consisting of OR1B1, OR2L8, OR4X2, OR4C16, OR5L1, OR8B4, OR8D2, OR10A6, OR10C1, OR12D2, OR524, OR4E2, OR4P4, OR4K2, OR4C3, OR5I1, OR10Q1 and measuring the response of the receptor.
