Disclosed is a method for producing a palladium-based permeation membrane which is suitable for the separation of hydrogen from gas-gas or liquid-gas mixtures. The permeation membrane is produced by applying a palladium complex, dissolved in a solvent, to a nanoporous support system having pores in a size range of from 0.5 nm to 50 nm, removing the solvent by drying, removing of organic constituents of the palladium complex by a heat treatment, and carrying out a final heat treatment under reducing conditions at a temperature ranging from about 300&#xb0; C. to about 900&#xb0; C.

Method for producing a permeation membrane

The invention relates to a permselective membrane () for removal of water from water-containing gas mixtures, said permselective membrane () being a carbon membrane of a material whose structure is graphite similar and formed by at least one sequence of layers of the material, the layers being arranged in planes, adjacent layers having an average distance between the layers of less than 0.45 nm (4.5 &#x212b;), and the sequence of layers being turbostratically disordered. The invention further relates to processes for preparing membrane () and to uses of membrane () for exchanging water between two gas streams and also for removing water from chemical equilibrium reactions. Assemblies comprising membrane () on porous ceramic carriers () and apparatuses for separating water from a water-containing gas mixture are also described.

Carbon membrane, process for the manufacture of carbon membranes and use thereof

The use of solutions of organic polymers for production of carbon membranes suitable for gas separation, and a process for producing carbon membranes suitable for gas separation, comprising the steps of a) coating a porous substrate with solutions of organic polymers, b) drying the polyester coating on the porous substrate by removing the solvent, and c) pyrolyzing the polyester coating on the porous substrate to form the carbon membrane suitable for gas separation, it being possible to conduct any of steps a) to c) or the sequence of steps a) to c) more than once.

Process for producing carbon membranes

A method for producing membranes which contain at least one solid layer on one side of a porous substrate by treating the side of the support, which is to be coated, with a synthetic solution that forms the solid layer. The inventive method is characterized in that the space located behind the side of the porous support, which is not to be coated, is filled with an inert fluid during the production of the solid layer on the porous support, 'behind' being from the perspective of the support. The pressure and/or the temperature of the fluid is/are selected such that the synthetic solution is essentially prevented from entering in contact with the side of the porous support, which is not to be coated.

Membrane production method

A process for the production of a composite membrane, one or more microporous separation layers comprising a zeolite of the MFI type being produced by hydrothermal synthesis on a porous substrate, wherein one or more additives from the group consisting of linear (C-C)-alcohols, ammonia, primary, secondary and tertiary amines having in each case (C-C)-alkyl radicals, (C-C)-aminoalcohols and (C-C)-ketones are added to the synthesis solution for the hydrothermal synthesis.

Process for producing a composite membrane

Composite membranes comprising at least one porous substrate layer and at least one microporous separation layer, comprising at least one zeolite of the MFI type, are described, the separation layer being produced by a hydrothermal synthesis in which the molar ratio of silicon to aluminum is greater than 120 and the separation layer contains less than 10% by weight of aluminum in elemental or chemically bound form in a zone of at least 100 nm adjacent to the separation layer.
