A rotary valve comprising a housing with a valve chamber, wherein the valve chamber has at least one inlet and at least one outlet, wherein the inlet and/or the outlet are at least partially closable, as required, by a valve body which is rotatable about an axis and is arranged in the valve chamber, wherein, on that side of the housing facing the valve body, the inlet and/or the outlet is enclosed by a sliding seal, and wherein the sliding seal bears sealingly, under elastic preload, against that surface of the valve body facing the housing.

A device for sealing a valve for controlling a coolant of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle is described, which valve is mounted in a cooling system together with a valve housing, wherein the valve housing contains, at the inlet and/or the outlet side, a sealing ring which has an annular wall and a spaced annular lip extending away from the annular wall from a contact point.

Device for sealing a valve

A valve for use in a coolant flow. The valve comprises a valve housing with an inlet and at least one outlet, a valve body which is rotatably received by the valve housing, an actuator for rotating the valve body, and a fail-safe mechanism which can be pretensioned rotationally. The valve body is in rotational engagement with an axially moveable coupling element, via which the valve body is releasably connected indirectly to the actuator shaft. In the event of a fault, the valve body can be decoupled from the actuator shaft by an axial movement of the coupling element. The axial movement of the coupling element also causes the fail-safe mechanism to come into rotational engagement with the coupling element in order to rotate the valve body to a predefined fail-safe position.
