A method for mitigating noise caused by a loudspeaker in an audio device. The method obtains an audio signal for driving the loudspeaker. The method obtains a system model of the audio device that represents a modeled physical characteristic of the audio device, and determines whether a noise level of loudspeaker induced acoustic noise is greater than a desired sound level by analyzing the audio signal according to the system model, where the noise level and the desired sound level are characterized at the listener's position in an acoustic environment. The method, in response to determining that the noise level is greater than the sound level, processes the audio signal to cause a reduction of the noise level.

Loudspeaker-induced noise mitigation

A power mitigation algorithm in a loudspeaker amplification system that includes a loudspeaker driver, an audio amplifier, and a constant output power, power supply. A power requirement for the amplifier to output an audio signal is determined. A gain adjustment signal is then determined based on a difference between the power requirement and a power budget of the amplifier. Gain of the audio signal is adjusted according to the gain adjustment signal, for output through the loudspeaker driver. As a result, a peak level of the power consumption of the amplifier while outputting the gain-adjusted audio signal becomes less than the power budget. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Power mitigation for loudspeaker amplifiers

An audio electronics system operates on audio data. A low-pass or bandpass filter produces first data from audio data. A level detector produces a time-varying first gain. The first gain is based on a time-varying level of the first data. A harmonics generator receives, as input, the first data adjusted by an inverse of the first gain. The harmonics generator produces second data, as harmonics of the input. A multiplier outputs the second data adjusted by the first gain. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

Automatic level control for psychoacoustic bass enhancement

An electronic device for buzz reduction is described. The electronic device is to be used with a speaker driver that is built onto an enclosure and is to be driven by an audio signal which could cause the enclosure to produce buzz. The electronic device includes a filter that is to attenuate a frequency component of the audio signal before driving the speaker driver. The electronic device also includes a controller that is to configure the filter to attenuate the frequency component of the audio signal in response to determining that strength of the audio signal at the frequency component exceeds a threshold. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
