A method for determining an orientation of an industrial truck relative to a structure comprises recording an image of the structure using a camera mounted to the industrial truck, where the structure includes at least one horizontal element. At least two geometric quantities are determined from the recorded image that correspond to the at least one horizontal element. The at least two geometric quantities are then used to determine an angle of intersection between an image plane and a vertical plane through the at least one horizontal element.

Method for determining an orientation of an industrial truck

Systems for inspecting a warehouse are disclosed. A system includes a laser scanner attachable to an industrial truck and adapted to scan in a plane substantially perpendicular to the industrial truck's main direction of travel to scan an environment of a warehouse on at least one side of the industrial truck and to generate scan data. The system includes a computing unit adapted to receive the scan data and data on the absolute position and/or relative position change of the industrial truck, or data from which one or more of these variables can be derived. The computing unit is further adapted to construct three-dimensional data of the environment on the basis of the scan data and data on the absolute position and/or relative position change of the industrial truck.

Warehouse inspection system

A method to determine a stopping distance of an industrial truck comprises the steps of (i) measuring a distance traveled by the industrial truck and set points in time therebetween to determine a current vehicle speed, (ii) ascertaining at least one comparative value indicative of a relative speed change depending on at least one distance traveled during an acceleration of the industrial truck, and (iii) determining the stopping distance from the current vehicle speed and the ascertained comparative value.
