Base station antennas are provided. A base station antenna includes a reflector that has a plurality of faces that face in different directions. The base station antenna includes a plurality of arrays of radiating elements that are on the faces, respectively, of the reflector. Moreover, the base station antenna includes a plurality of parasitic elements that are on the faces. Related methods of operating a base station antenna are also provided.

The present application relates to an antenna assembly for a base station antenna, a base station antenna arrangement and a base station antenna. The antenna assembly has a reflector, which has a longitudinal extent, a front side and a rear side opposite the front side, where the front side is configured for radiating elements to be arranged thereon, wherein, the reflector has a first longitudinal section residing in a first plane and a second longitudinal section residing in a second plane that is adjacent to the first longitudinal section, where the first plane is rearward of the second plane. The properties of the base station antenna arrangement and the base station antenna may be improved through the antenna assembly.

An integrated base station antenna comprises a passive antenna and an active antenna installed behind the passive antenna. The active antenna comprises a reflecting plate and an array of radiating elements extending forward from the reflecting plate. The passive antenna includes an array of metal tuning elements that tune the array of radiating elements, where the array of metal tuning elements us positioned in front of the array of radiating elements of the active antenna, and where a longitudinal axis of at least some of the metal tuning elements extend at an angle between 70° and 110° with respect to a plane defined by the reflecting plate.

Integrated base station antenna

An integrated base station antenna comprises a passive antenna that includes a front radome, a matching dielectric layer and a rear radome; and an active antenna mounted on the back of the passive antenna. A distance between the rear radome of the passive antenna and the matching dielectric layer is a first distance, and the distance between the active antenna and the rear radome of the passive antenna is a second distance, where the first distance is selected as 0.25+n/2 times the equivalent wavelength, where n is a positive integer, and the second distance is selected as 0.25+N/2 times the equivalent wavelength, where N is a natural number. The equivalent wavelength is within the range of 0.8 to 1.2 times of the wavelength corresponding to a center frequency of an operating frequency band of the radiating elements in the active antenna.

Base station antennas, and components for base station antennas, such as reflectors, feeder components, frames, and column components. A base station antenna may include a reflector; a first radiator located at the front side of the reflector; mutually parallel first and second ground plates extending backward from the reflector and basically perpendicular to the reflector; and a first conductor strip extending between the first and second ground plates and configured to feed power to the first radiator. The first conductor strip and the first and second ground plates may be configured as a first stripline transmission line. The reflector and the first and second ground plates may be configured as one piece so that the reflector is grounded via the first and second ground plates without soldering.

The printed circuit board includes a first part covered by the trace and a second part not covered by the trace, where the second part includes at least one hollowed out area near the trace.

A base station antenna comprises a reflector, a plurality of first radiating elements arranged in a first column that extends in a vertical direction, a plurality of second radiating element arranged in a second column that extends in the vertical direction, and a plurality of parasitic elements, where the parasitic elements are arranged around the first radiating elements and/or second radiating elements. Each parasitic element is configured as a rod-shaped metal part, where a longitudinal axis of the rod-shaped metal part extends at an angle of between 70° to 110° with respect to a plane defined by the reflector, and the parasitic elements are positioned in front of the reflector in and are electrically floating with respect to the reflector.

A bias tee circuit comprises: a combining path having first and second ends and configured to transmit a combined signal which comprises a combination of an RF signal and a DC signal; an RF path having first and second ends and configured to transmit the RF signal included in the combined signal; a DC path having first and second ends and configured to transmit the DC signal included in the combined signal; and an impedance transformer connected between the first end of the combining path, the first end of the RF path and the first end of the DC path, and configured to make the reflection coefficient of the transmitted RF signal have at least two resonant modes within an operating RF band.

A feed network includes an adjustable electromechanical phase shifter that comprises a main printed circuit board and a phase shifting unit. The adjustable electromechanical phase shifter is configured to shift the phase of an RF signal that is input to the feed network and provide the phase shifted RF signal to at least one radiating element that is positioned on a first side of a reflector of an antenna, where the phase shifting unit is formed on the surface of a first side of the main printed circuit board, and the first side of the main printed circuit board is a side that is closer to the at least one radiating element, and the main printed circuit board is positioned on the first side of the reflector.

Feed network and antenna

A phase shifter assembly, suitable for a base station antenna, includes a main printed circuit board with opposing first and second primary sides. The main printed circuit board has a plurality of radio frequency (RF) transmission paths on the first primary side and a plurality of RF transmission paths on the second primary side. The phase shifter assembly also includes a first wiper arm rotatably coupled to the main printed circuit board and electrically coupled to the plurality of transmission paths on the first primary side of the main printed circuit board; and a second wiper arm rotatably coupled to the main printed circuit board and electrically coupled to the plurality of transmission paths on the second primary side of the main printed circuit board. Rearwardly extending phase shifter assemblies that are oriented perpendicular to a plane defined by a reflector within a base station antenna are also provided.

A calibration circuit board for an antenna. The calibration circuit board may include: a first metal layer configured to be grounded; a first substrate over the first metal layer; a second substrate over the first substrate; and a plurality of couplers. Each coupler may include: a transmission line provided with an input port and an output port at both ends thereof, respectively; and a coupling line coupled with the transmission line and including two first portions respectively located at both sides of the transmission line, and a second portion connected between the two first portions. The coupling lines may be connected in series to provide a first calibration port and a second calibration port. One of the transmission lines and the coupling lines may be between the first substrate and the second substrate, and the other of the transmission lines and the coupling lines may be over the second substrate.

Calibration circuit board and antenna apparatus including the same

The present disclosure relates to a coupler and a base station antenna. The coupler comprises: a first coupling member comprising a first substrate, and a first signal path and a first sub-path of a second signal path located on the first substrate, the first sub-path configured to be at least partially coupled with the first signal path to couple a portion of a signal in the first signal path into the second signal path; a second coupling member vertically stacked with the first coupling member, the second coupling member comprising a second substrate, and a second sub-path of the second signal path located on the second substrate; a shielding member disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate so as to shield the first coupling member and the second coupling member from one another, the shielding member being provided with a first connection through-hole; and a first connection member passing through the first connection through-hole and electrically connected between the first sub-path and the second sub-path.

A signal processing device may include a feeding apparatus having a first conductor configured to transmit a radio frequency signal; an insulating medium covering the first conductor; and a second conductor covering the insulating medium. The conductor may have first, second, and third portions. The third portion of the first conductor may be configured to be connected to the target apparatus to feed the radio frequency signal to the target apparatus and configured to form a capacitive impedance with the target apparatus, and the second portion of the first conductor may be configured to form an inductive impedance with the target apparatus. An absolute value of a sum of the capacitive impedance and the inductive impedance may be less than or equal to a preset impedance threshold.

A twin beam base station antenna includes a first array that has a plurality of columns of first frequency band radiating elements, the first array configured to form a first antenna beam that provides coverage throughout a first sub-sector of a three-sector base station. The radiating elements in a first of the columns in the first array have a first azimuth boresight pointing direction and the radiating elements in a second of the columns in the first array have a second azimuth boresight pointing direction that is offset from the first azimuth boresight pointing direction by at least 10°. The radiating elements in the second of the columns in the first array are electrically steered.

A patch antenna comprises a multilayer printed circuit board that includes a calibration network, an array of patch radiators and a feed network. In some embodiments, the multilayer printed circuit board includes a plurality of dielectric substrates, wherein the array of patch radiators is provided on a dielectric substrate different from the dielectric substrate on which the calibration network is provided, and the dielectric substrate provided with the array of patch radiators is provided above the dielectric substrate provided with the calibration network.
