The present invention provides an open-aperture waveguide fed slot antenna including a feeding section on a substrate integrated waveguide, an H-shaped slot, a matched end, and a bottom metal layer. One end of the feeding section is open and connected to the slot, providing energy feeding to the slot. A long side of the center section of the slot is connected to a top metal part of the feeding section. Another side is connected to the matching end. The matching end includes metal which is connected to the slot, the metallic via wall and the bottom metal of the feeding section which is connected to the metallic via wall. The antenna has high gain, wide gain bandwidth, a simple structure, and low processing cost and can be applied to millimeter-wave frequency bands as well as other frequency bands.

Open-aperture waveguide fed slot antenna

A device attachable to a substrate for improving penetration of wireless communication signals is provided. The device is a bendable resin configured to enhance penetration of an incidental radio wave from a first region through the substrate to a second region by forming one or more communication signal beams in the second region. The bendable resin includes a base layer of a first material, and one or more patterned elements each formed by providing a meta-pattern of a second material on the base layer. The first and second materials are different and selected from the group consisting of a dielectric material and a metallic material. Each individual patterned element is configured to tilt the incidental radio wave to form the one or more communication signal beams, wherein each individual communication signal beam is beam-focused at a predetermined focal point or a predetermined focal area in the second region.

Bendable resin having patterned elements for improving penetration of wireless communication signals

A slotted electrically conductive structure attachable to a substrate and configured to enhance penetration of an incidental radio wave through the substrate is disclosed. The structure allows a substantial portion of the incidental radio wave to penetrate from a first region to a second region through the substrate. The slotted electrically conductive structure comprises a metallic base layer of transparent metal or metal oxide; and one or more patterned slots provided on the metallic base layer. Each of the patterned slots comprises a plurality of feature elements covering an entire area of the patterned slot. The structure reduces thermal energy loss through the substrate and the plurality of feature elements is configured to allow the incidental radio wave to pass through the slotted electrically conductive structure. A multilayer structure comprising the slotted electrically conductive structure and a film structure having randomly distributed irregularly shaped protrusions or pits is also provided.

Slotted electrically conductive structure for improving indoor penetration of wireless communication signal

A system and method for an antenna including two or more radiation elements on a side of a substrate; a ground plane on an opposite side of the substrate; and a feeding network including a plurality of branch feeding elements. Each of the radiation elements has one or more feeding ports such that each of the plurality of branch feeding element is connected to a feeding port of a respective one of the radiation elements.

Antenna for use in electronic communication systems

The present disclosure relates to a waveguide fed open slot antenna. In some examples, the antenna comprises a waveguide section, a slot, a matching load, a waveguide bottom extension, and a vertical metal wall. The waveguide section can be in the form of a rectangular waveguide or a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The slot can comprise a rectangle, with one of its long sides abutting the top surface of the waveguide section, and another long side abutting the matching load, while the two short sides do not connect any metal. The waveguide bottom extension can be rectangular. The end of the waveguide bottom extension and the edge of the matching load on the side close to the open slot can be connected together by the vertical metal wall. In this way, the slot can be excited.

Waveguide fed open slot antenna

A dielectric material antenna is disclosed. The antenna includes a first material layer made up of a first material with a low dielectric constant. A surface pattern containing pits is carved out of the first material layer. The pits carved out are then filled up with a second material layer made up of a second material that has a high dielectric constant than the first material layer to form a first antenna layer. A wave launcher is provided near to the first antenna layer with a ground provided at its bottom. The wave launcher helps to couple the energy generated from an energy source to the first antenna layer in order to radiate and receive signals.

Dielectric material as antenna

Disclosed are a system, apparatus, and method for improving performance of antennas in electronic devices. The disclosed system, apparatus, and method uses a transparent dielectric substrate as an antenna. The transparent dielectric substrate may receive energy from a wave launcher and printed circuit board. To work as an antenna, the whole structure may include at least one wave launcher located between the dielectric transparent substrate and a printed circuit board. Also, the structure may include a ground at the bottom of solid dielectric transparent substrate with a separation space. The space should not be less than wavelength 1/10 of fundamental resonant frequency.

Systems, apparatus, and methods to improve antenna performance in electronic devices

A dual polarized high gain and wideband complementary antenna is presented herein. A dual polarized antenna can include a ground plane, a folded dipole portion electrically coupled to the ground plane, a shorted patch antenna portion including an open end that is electrically coupled to the folded dipole portion, and a metal plate located at a bottom portion of the dual polarized antenna. In one example, the folded dipole portion can include four folded dipoles. Further, the open end of the shorted patch antenna portion can be electrically coupled to the folded dipole portion using the metal plate. Further, the dual polarized antenna can include two ports&#x2014;each port including a pair of feeding sources, and each feeding source configured to generate an electric dipole and a magnetic dipole. In another example, magnitudes of the electric dipoles can be equivalent, and magnitudes of the magnetic dipoles can be equivalent.

Dual polarized high gain and wideband complementary antenna

An integrated wire elliptical helical antenna with novel cuboids dielectric resonator loading for circularly polarized wave transmission and reception is presented. The antenna is designed to operate in the center frequency of 915 MHz and it is utilized in RFID systems as a base station antenna. The elliptical structure is formed by steel wire and supporting acrylic plastic. The cuboids dielectric resonator is loaded at the inner surface of the proposed antenna.

A complementary wideband antenna includes a planar dipole formed of two dipole sections and a shorted patch antenna located between the dipole sections, the dipole sections being spaced above a ground plane. A variety of different feed probe designs can be used to excite the antenna. The complementary wideband antenna has electrical characteristics including low back radiation, low cross polarization, a symmetrical radiation pattern, and is stable in gain and radiation pattern shape over the frequency bandwidth.

The transmit loop segments are disposed in a transmit zigzag configuration. A receive loop element having receive loop segments is formed on the second surface. Each receive loop segment in the receive zigzag configuration is skewed with respect to a closest transmit loop segment disposed in the transmit zigzag configuration.
