Disclosed is a battery module including a module housing capable of effectively increasing an energy density while improving the heat dissipation efficiency. The battery module includes a cell assembly having a plurality of secondary batteries; and a module housing having at least one sidewall to accommodate the cell assembly in an inner space defined by the sidewall and having a cooling channel embedded in the sidewall.

Battery module

The present disclosure relates to a pouch casing material including two cups forming an electrode assembly receiving portion and formed integrally in one pouch film. The pouch casing material includes an upper pouch member and a lower pouch member formed integrally with each other, and the connection between the upper pouch member and the lower pouch member does not protrude toward the outside. Thus, the total length of a battery is reduced.

Pouch casing material for secondary battery

A spot welding jig is provided. The spot welding jig presses electrode leads of battery cells to be closely adhered onto a bus bar when spot welding is performed to the electrode leads interposed on the bus bar along a width direction of the electrode leads. The spot welding jig includes a passing portion through which a welding laser passes, and a predetermined number of barriers configured to vertically partition an inner space of the passing portion.

A battery module is provided. The battery module includes pouch-type battery cells stacked on each other and electrically connected in series and/or in parallel. Toward an electrode lead of one pouch-type battery cell, electrode leads of other pouch-type battery cells are biased to allow ends of the electrode leads to be overlapped. In particular, each of the pouch-type battery cells has an R bending portion at which a boundary region between a terrace of a pouch case and the electrode leads is bent toward a direction in which the electrode leads are biased.

A battery module according to the present disclosure includes a first busbar electrically connected to a first electrode lead of a first battery cell, a second busbar electrically connected to a second electrode lead of a second battery cell, a short part which moves to the first busbar and the second busbar and comes into contact with the first busbar and the second busbar by the application of an expansion force caused by volume increase of the first battery cell to electrically connect the first busbar to the second busbar, causing a short, and a cartridge which receives or supports at least part of the first electrode lead, the second electrode lead, the first busbar, the second busbar and the short part.

Provided is a battery module in which weldability between electrode leads and/or between an electrode lead and a bus bar is improved. The battery module includes: a cell assembly that includes a plurality of secondary batteries stacked in at least one direction, respectively including electrode leads, and electrically connected to each other via a connection between the electrode leads; and at least one bus bar that includes an electrically conductive material and is electrically connected by contacting the electrode leads of the plurality of secondary batteries, wherein at least one of the electrode leads is combined and fixed to at least one of another electrode lead and the at least one bus bar, which are contacted by the at least one of the electrode leads, via a welding spot formed in a tornado shape.

The present disclosure relates to a battery module having stable strength and rigidity, high sealability and assemblability, and improved productivity. The battery module of the present disclosure includes: a cell assembly; a cooling plate; a front cover having a lower portion welded to the cooling plate; a rear cover having a lower portion welded to the cooling plate; a left side cover having a lower end portion welded to the cooling plate and a rear end portion welded to the rear cover; a right side cover having a lower end portion welded to the cooling plate, a front end portion welded to the front cover, and a rear end portion welded to the rear cover; and an upper plate having a left end portion welded to the left side cover and a right end portion welded to the right side cover.

Disclosed are a busbar for cooling battery cells and a battery module using the same. The busbar for cooling battery cells is a busbar configured to cool a plurality of battery cells included in a battery module, and includes: a body portion formed in a strap shape and contacting an electrode lead of each battery cell; and a bent portion integrally formed with the body portion and extending from one end of the body portion to be bent in a thickness direction of the body portion, wherein the bent portion includes: a coupling groove coupled to a coupling protrusion that is prepared on a cooling plate of the battery module or a coupling protrusion that is prepared on a predetermined frame of the battery module, the predetermined frame supporting the busbar; and a thermal contact surface thermally contacting the cooling plate. Therefore, the busbar efficiently cools the electrode lead of each battery cell, which emits a large amount of heat, and allows simplification and size reduction of a structure of the battery module and reduction in manufacturing costs of the battery module.

Disclosed is a battery module, which may stably maintain a secondary battery stack and have less damage to an electrode lead due to external vibration, and a battery pack including the battery module. The battery module comprises a plurality of pouch-type secondary batteries respectively configured to accommodate an electrode assembly in a pouch thereof so that an electrode lead connected to an electrode tab of the electrode assembly is drawn through a terrace portion of the pouch, and a fixing member interposed at least partially between the secondary batteries and adhered and fixed to the terrace portion to maintain the secondary batteries in a stacked state.
