Ringing suppression may be provided. First, a first ringing suppressor in a first branch of an amplifier may cancel interference from a second branch of the amplifier using a transmitted signal from the second branch as a reference. The first ringing suppressor may also cancel echo interference from the first branch of the amplifier using an output of the first ringing suppressor in the first branch as a reference. Furthermore, a second ringing suppressor in the second branch of the amplifier may cancel interference from the first branch of the amplifier using a transmitted signal from the first branch as a reference. Furthermore, the second ringing suppressor may cancel echo interference from the second branch of the amplifier using an output of the second ringing suppressor in the second branch as a reference.

Amplifier supporting full duplex (FDX) operations

Echo cancellation in multiple port Full Duplex (FDX) nodes and amplifiers may be provided. First, a plurality of signals may be provided to a cancelation device. Each of the plurality of signals may be configured to provide the cancelation device with a corresponding plurality of configurations. Next, a plurality of effective echo power values respectively corresponding to the plurality of configurations may be received. A one of the plurality of configurations corresponding to a lowest of the plurality of effective echo power values may then be selected. The cancelation device may then be operated at the selected one of the plurality of configurations.

Echo cancellation in multiple port full duplex (FDX) nodes and amplifiers

Echo cancellation to alleviate timing varying channels may be provided. First, a feedback signal corresponding to one of a plurality of downstream paths and a combination upstream signal comprising a combination of upstream signals from a plurality of upstream paths may be received. Next, a plurality of echo corrected signals may be created using the feedback signal, the combination upstream signal, and a plurality of echo cancelation coefficients that each respectively correspond to each one of the plurality of echo corrected signals and that are different from each other. Then a one of the plurality of echo cancelation coefficients that corresponds to a one of the plurality of echo corrected signals that provides a best echo cancelation performance as compared to other ones of the plurality of echo corrected signals may be selected to use.

Echo cancellation to alleviate timing varying channels

Echo Cancellation (EC) training for a Full Duplex (FDX) amplifier may be provided. First, a Downstream (DS) signal at a fixed location on a subcarrier frequency may be received. Next, an Upstream (US) echo may be determined from the received DS signal at the fixed location on the subcarrier frequency. Determining the upstream echo may comprise subtracting a known value from the received DS signal at the fixed location on the subcarrier frequency. An Echo Cancelation (EC) coefficient may then be determined. Determining the EC coefficient may comprise dividing the determined US echo by a reference signal comprising an US signal. Next, EC may be performed. Performing EC may comprise subtracting the echo from the DS signal.

Echo cancellation (EC) training for a full duplex (FDX) amplifier

Upstream (US) funneling noise suppression may be provided. First, a signal comprising a plurality of mini-slots in a two dimensional time frequency space may be received by a funneling noise suppressor. Next, the power level in each of the plurality of mini-slots may be determined. The received signal may then be outputted. Outputting the received signal may comprises outputting the received signal with mini-slots muted in the received signal that have a power level less than a predetermined threshold.

Upstream (US) funneling noise suppression

A system to support Time Division Duplex (TDD) Full Duplex (FDX) with a remote Duty Cycle (DS) framer may be provided. The system may comprise a core and a Remote PHY Device (RPD). The core may comprise a Downstream (DS) Quality-of-Service (QoS) scheduler and a DS duty cycle rate regulator. The DS duty cycle rate regulator may comprise a plurality of token buckets and a plurality of data framing queues. The RPD may comprise a plurality of TG queue blocks and switching logic.

Time division duplex (TDD) full duplex (FDX) with a remote duty cycle (DS) framer

A centralized Upstream (US) scheduling system configured to provide a US split scheduler may be provided. The centralized US scheduling system may comprise a US scheduler and a map editor. The US scheduler may be configured to create a map for US bandwidth allocation. The map may include Steady-State Grants (SGNTs) and Editable Grants (EGNTs). The map editor may be configured to receive the map from the US scheduler and to assign the EGNTs among low latency Service Flows (SFs).

Upstream split scheduler

An example apparatus for supporting digital pre-distortion (DPD) and full duplex (FDX) in cable network environments is provided and includes a first path for signals being transmitted out of the apparatus, a second path for signals being received into the apparatus, a DPD actuator located on the first path, an amplifier located on the first path, an echo cancellation (EC) actuator located on the second path, and a data interface including a plurality of channels connecting the apparatus to a signal processor. DPD coefficients, EC coefficients and delay parameters are provided over the data interface from the signal processor to the apparatus. The DPD actuator predistorts signals on the first path using the DPD coefficients compensating for distortions introduced by the amplifier, and the EC actuator reduces interferences in signals on the second path using the EC coefficients and the delay parameters, facilitating FDX communication by the apparatus.

System architecture for supporting digital pre-distortion and full duplex in cable network environments

A hybrid active tap may be provided. The hybrid active tap may comprise a first branch and a second branch. The first branch may be disposed between a first diplexer and a second diplexer. The first branch may correspond to a first frequency spectrum. The second branch may be disposed between the first diplexer and the second diplexer. The second branch may correspond to a second frequency spectrum. The hybrid active tap may further comprise a third branch, a fourth branch, a splitter, and an amplification device. The third branch may be disposed between a first coupler and a third diplexer. The first coupler may be coupled to the first branch. The fourth branch may be disposed between a second coupler and the third diplexer. The second coupler may be coupled to the second branch. The splitter may be connected to the third diplexer and the amplification device may be disposed in the first branch.

Hybrid active tap

Proactive Echo Cancellation (EC) training may be provided. First, a plurality of Echo Cancelation Training Opportunities (ECTOs) may be identified in an upstream bandwidth allocation. Identifying the ECTOs may comprise identifying a corresponding plurality of mini-slots in a two dimensional time frequency space designated as not to be used for Upstream (US) traffic. Then Echo Cancelation Training (ECT) may be conducted for each of the plurality of ECTOs.

Proactive echo cancellation (EC) training

Echo cancellation may be provided. First, a feedback signal corresponding to a plurality of downstream paths may be received. Next, during an upstream silence period, a sample of a combination upstream signal may be received comprising a combination of upstream signals from a plurality of upstream paths. An echo correcting signal may then be created using the received feedback signal and the received sample of the combination upstream signal. Downstream echoes may be cancel from the combination upstream signal based on the created echo correcting signal.

Digital echo cancellation with single feedback

A virtual physical layer may be provided. When providing the virtual physical layer, a remote radio head may be used. The remote radio head may comprise a first interface device, a second interface device, a digital-to-analog converter, and an analog-to-digital converter. The first interface device may be connected to a virtual physical layer instance instantiated in a cloud-based environment. The second interface device may be connected to customer premises equipment. The digital-to-analog converter may be connected between the first interface device and the second interface device and the analog-to-digital converter may also be connected between the first interface device and the second interface device.

Virtual physical layer

Reduce echo level may be provided by scrambling phases of echoes from multiple ports in a Full Duplex (FDX) node. The FDX node may comprise a transmit portion, a receive portion, and a plurality of ports. The transmit portion may comprise a transmit portion transmit port and a plurality of splitters. The receive portion may comprise a receive portion receive port and a plurality of combiners. The plurality of splitters and the plurality of combiners may scramble phases of completed loops from the transmit portion transmit port to the receive portion receive port resulting from reflections from the plurality of ports.

Reduce echo level by scrambling phases of echoes from multiple ports in FDX node

An embodiment of a method includes determining a channel signature for each of a plurality of cable devices associated with a selected household; determining whether at least one of the channel signatures is substantially different than the remaining ones of the channel signatures; and if at least one of the channel signatures is substantially different than the remaining ones of the channel signatures, flagging the selected household for potential theft of services review. Additional embodiments may include determining a radio frequency ('RF') signal power level for each of the cable devices; calculating a sum of the determined RF signal power levels; determining whether the calculated sum is equal to an RF power signal level measured at a tap of the selected household; and if the calculated sum is not equal to the measured RF power signal level, flagging the selected household for potential theft of services review.
