A multi-chamber oil boom includes a first bladder and a second bladder, each having an inflatable interior. A valve includes an air passage that communicates between the interior of the first bladder and the interior of the second bladder. The valve further includes a clamping spring assembly that provides compressive force on the air passage and closes the air passage until partial inflation of the first bladder causes the air passage to open against the compressive force of the clamping spring assembly to open the air passage and allow air to travel from the inflatable interior of the first bladder to the inflatable interior of the second bladder.

Multi-chamber oil boom valve

A collapsible container for carrying flowable materials includes a bag made of a plurality of layers of rubber-coated fabric and at least one lift assembly for lifting the container onto or out of a transport vehicle such as a railcar, truck or the like. The lift assembly is attached to straps or cords vulcanized into the plurality of layers of rubber-coated fabric. These straps or cords distribute the weight of the flowable materials within the container to other parts of the container, thereby providing the container with a suitable lifting capability.

Container for carrying flowable materials and related method

A lift bag includes a plurality of independently inflatable chambers for controlling lifting of objects. Each chamber is defined by an upper surface sheet and a lower surface sheet, the upper surface sheet of one chamber positioned below an adjacent chamber being securely attached to the lower surface sheet of an adjacent chamber. The lift bag can be operated at pressures of about 15 psig at specified heights which allows greater flexibility compared to conventional, single-chambered lift bag which operate at pressures of about 7 psig. Preferably, all seams, reinforcements, and fittings are vulcanized in place using uncured rubber coated fabric. Grommets or other securing means may provide further stability to the lift bag.
