Computer implemented methods and systems for monitoring cardiac activity (CA) signals, for a series of beats, over first and second sensing channels having different first and second detection thresholds, respectively. The methods and systems also include analyzing the CA signals over the first and second sensing channels utilizing the first and second detection thresholds, respectively, during an event prediction window to detect a presence of sensed events. The methods and systems also include determining amplitudes of the sensed events detected. The methods and systems also include calculating at least one of an amplitude distribution or amplitude trend for the sensed events detected over the first and second channels and adjusting at least one of the first or second detection thresholds based on the at least one of the amplitude distribution or amplitude trend.

Method and system for adaptive-sensing of electrical cardiac signals

Described herein are implantable systems and devices, and methods for use therewith, that distinguish between different signal components of interest in sensed physiologic signals with high sensitivity and specificity. Such a method can include obtaining a sensed signal using an IMD and using a plurality of different filters that are parallel to one another to simultaneously filter the sensed signal, and/or copies thereof, to produce different filtered signals. Where each filter has a respective passband that does not substantially overlap with the passband(s) of the other filter(s), each of the different filtered signals will be indicative of different frequency content of the sensed signal. Additionally, amplitudes of temporally aligned peaks in at least two of the different filtered signals can be detected, and one or more peaks of the sensed signal can be classified based on the detected amplitudes of the temporally aligned peaks in the different filtered signals.

Physiologic signal analysis using multiple frequency bands

An implantable medical device includes leads having electrodes that are positioned within a heart. The electrodes sense signals derived from the heart that include waveform segments. The device includes a timing module that determines when the waveform segments cross a threshold and measures time intervals between at least two threshold crossings by the waveform segments. The device also includes event identification module that compares the time intervals to a predetermined pattern associated with a cardiac event. The event identification module identifies the cardiac event based on the time intervals and the predetermined pattern.

Device and method for identifying cardiac events

Techniques are described for discriminating ventricular tachycardia (VT) from supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) using an implantable medical device capable of multi-site ventricular sensing. In one example, ventricular depolarization events are detected within a patient by the implantable device during a tachyarrhythmia, at both a left ventricular sensing site and a right ventricular sensing site. Ventricular event timing differences are then ascertained. The device compares the ventricular event timing differences detected during the tachyarrhythmia with predetermined supraventricular event timing differences for the patient, such as event timing differences previously detected within the patient during sinus rhythm or extrapolated from sinus rhythm values. The device then distinguishes VT from SVT based on the comparison of the event timing differences detected during the tachyarrhythmia with the predetermined supraventricular event timing differences. Morphological waveform analysis can also be performed, when needed, to further distinguish VT from SVT.

Systems and methods for use with an implantable medical device for discriminating VT and SVT based on ventricular depolarization event timing

A method for diagnosing an implantable cardiac device including a plurality of implanted leads may include: monitoring a plurality of parameters associated with the plurality of implanted leads; detecting a change in one of the parameters; evaluating at least one of the other parameters upon detection of the change; and diagnosing a problem with the implantable cardiac device based on the detected change and the evaluation. A system for diagnosing an implantable cardiac device including a plurality of implanted leads may include an implantable pacing device and a processor. The processor may be configured to: monitor a plurality of parameters associated with the plurality of implanted leads; detect a change in one of the parameters; evaluating at least one of the other parameters upon detection of the change; and diagnose a problem with the implantable cardiac device based on the detected change and the evaluation.
