Disclosed here is a system enabling users/customers to receive an objective assessment of the performance of a printer. This is accomplished by comparing a quality score of an earlier-in-time image with a quality score of a later-in-time image. A processor analyzes each image based on several criteria and uses various image-analysis methods, to flag errors within an image. A numeric quality score, based on the number of errors, is provided to the user to objectively evaluate whether the printer has degraded or not. Thus, the user can objectively present an argument to a salesperson or manufacturer that the user is due a remedy.

A printing system for printing images onto a medium supplied as feed-stock, said system comprising a printer, a control computer and data inputting means, a printer head, a cutter, at least one rewinder and a taper; the print head for printing individual work-pieces onto the medium; the cutter for cutting the medium into individual work-pieces, and the at least one rewinder for rewinding the work-pieces into coreless-rolls, and the taper comprising a tape dispenser and printer for printing identifying data onto a piece of tape applied to fasten each coreless roll closed wherein the cutter and the printing of the tape is controlled by the control computer, wherein the cutter is configured to section the work-piece from the feedstock after it has started to be fed into the rewinder.

Integrated printing and packaging solution

A system for enabling a wide format ink jet printer to print onto discontinuous flexible media. A wide format inkjet printer includes a print head and a feed roller that can be configured as a flat bed printer for printing onto stiff media or as a roll to roll printer for printing onto continuous flexible media. Addition of a tray connected to a vacuum pump that can be fed using the feed roller when in flat bed configuration enables the printer to be used for printing onto flexible discontinuous media.

Bimodal ink jet printing method

A two-stage method for recording a quality enhanced image on a substrate has a preparation and a production stage. In the preparation stage, the digital image file is scanned for adjacent color pairs with different color values. This exhaustive list is processed according to predetermined criteria per type of output device, creating a sub-list of color pairs that might potentially create artifacts on the recorded image. Several such sub-lists may be created, each per potential output technology to be used. Each sub-list of color pairs is accompanied by modification parameters, indicating the action that needs to be taken in the recording stage, in order to avoid the artifacts and thereby enhance the recorded image quality. In the second, Production stage, this enhancement information, prepared for the actual output device to be used, is used to modify the imaging parameters such as screening parameters, taking into consideration production information such as enlargement.

System and method for artwork design and production

A system and method for producing a two dimensional color image with an artificial shadow, the image having elements stored at least in a first format and in a second format. A user designates at least an area in the image in which the object to be shadowed resides, an area in the image in which the shadow is to be generated and at least one shadow characteristic. An artificial shadow is generated in accordance with the user input. Elements stored in the first format are manipulated in accordance with the artificial shadow, the user input and the second format. Elements stored in the second format are manipulated in accordance with the user input. A relationship between the manipulated elements in the first format and the manipulated elements in the second format is determined and the image including with the artificial shadow is generated therefrom.
